DG Murray Trust is implementing a multifaceted HIV prevention Project (Bumb’INGOMSO) that aims to reduce the incidence of HIV among the 15-29-year-old young women in the Buffalo City Metropolitan Municipality. Our programmes combine behavioural, biomedical, social and economic interventions. Bumb’INGOMSO is primarily financed by the Federal Republic of Germany through KfW Development Bank in Partnership with the DG Murray Trust. The DG Murray Trust (DGMT) is the executing agent and junior funding partner for the project on behalf of the South African National Department of Health (NDoH) and has contracted different organisations for implementing the project.

Job Title: Programme specialist 
Job Location:  East London

Main Purpose of the Job

The Programme Specialist will contribute to the design of the strategy of the project, provide technical expertise in the implementation and monitoring of the project.

Key duties and responsibilities

  • Work with implementing partners to develop the strategy, prepare, plan and implement project activities
  • Manage senior level stakeholder relationships; coordinate and participate in technical working groups within the project
  • Monitor overall project progress to ensure that deliverables and milestones are met
  • Oversee programme data to allow for monitoring and evaluation of the project and reporting against project indicators
  • Conduct facility site visits to monitor support activities, identify gaps and advise accordingly
  • Work closely with communications and monitoring manager to prepare project reports
  • Contribute to research agenda of the project

Requirements:

  • A masters degree in public health similar/related qualification
  • 5-10 years in programme management experience (include programme design, monitoring and evaluation)
  • Experience in HIV prevention programmes, in particular behaviour change interventions and
  • Be detail-oriented, organized, self-motivated and be able to work independently
  • Strong communication and people skills
