The role is based in Cape Town, and is a member of the Supply Chain Planning team reporting to the Product Planning Manager. The role has no direct report.
Leadership responsibilities
Take ownership of availability of product at the 28 depots
Close influencing relationship with the distribution team and the transport planners.
Purpose of Role
Plan the deployment of products from the central distribution points (Elandsfontein in Gauteng and Clairwood in KZN) to the distributed depots throughout the country
Work closely with the relevant customer supply managers, key accounts managers, Order-To-Cash (OTC) function and distribution functions to ensure availability of products on depot level.
Top Accountabilities
Create weekly and daily deployment plans from the central distribution hubs (Elandsfontein and Clairwood) based on depot level forecasts and sales orders
Create stock transfer orders to support execution of the plans
Monitor execution of the stock transfer orders and work with the transport planners and distribution function to resolve problems
Escalate stock transfers where required
Challenge depot level forecasts where actual demand patters are not reflected in the forecast
Compile monthly KPI’s and identify and implement improvement opportunities
Ensure accuracy of all deployment planning related master data in SAP R/3 and SAP APO
Qualifications and experience required
Experience of a supply chain role in a materials management and distribution service environment
Computer literacy and experience in using planning software, eg. SAP APO, Manugistics, I2 or similar in materials and distribution requirements planning
Excellent knowledge of the principles of S&OP, MRP and DRP
