To provide risk management and compliance services to the loans business within Direct Axis

1. Gather and translate all regulatory requirements and associated operational risks
2. Challenge and assess requirements and recommend business relevant approach and risks
3. Drive and coordinate required changes
4. Provide regular reporting and feedback to relevant stakeholders
5. Act as Loans Operations Subject Matter Expert for all compliance related matters
Requirements Legal or business risk

Ideally knowledge and experience in delivery of full compliance protocols to legislative and best practice standards


Knowledge and experience of the finance and insurance Industry
Knowledge and experience of the relevant financial services legislation including but not limited to:
– Long term insurance Act


Duties & Roles

• To be informed and knowledgeable re all relevant legislation and to review business processes and practices in order to ensure that the business operates in line with all the legislative requirements at any given point in time.
• To draft and submit the the necessary and relevant reporting internally (to executive team) and, upon request, externally (to FirstRand and the various legislative bodies) on a monthly and annual basis to highlight any areas of concern as well as proposed solutions to address the risks
• To escalate non-compliance to relevant legislation and regulations to appropriate management of Direct Axis
• Instill a Compliance culture within Direct Axis Loans
• To own and manage the relationship between Loans Operations and the broader compliance team
• To represent Loans Operations during any audits done by by internal and external bodies, to review the audit findings and to facilitate the actions arising from such audit reports throughout the business.

Relating to NCA & FICA:
• To take full responsibility for legislative requirements applicable to the Loans Operations
• To support the Loans Executive team to ensure the division complies with all applicable regulations and standard operating procedures

Relating to FAIS:
• To ensure that all Fit & Proper requirements for the business as well as individuals within the business are met and documented
• Facilitate and implement the requirements in the business relating to :
? Quality Assessment
? Dispute handling and management
• To review the business processes. policies and communication with the aim of ensuring that it complies with regulations and to provide recommendations to the business regarding improvements or necessary changes

Operational Risk Management and Audit Resolutions
• Ensure overall compliance to regulations (e.g. NCA, FICA, etc.) and regulatory bodies codes of conduct (e.g. NCR, FIC, etc.) applicable to the financial services industry as well as pending legislation (e.g. POPI, TCF etc.)
• To ensure the necessary and relevant reports are submitted both internally (to executive team) and externally (to third party stakeholders e.g. JV Partners, shareholders, auditors, etc) on a monthly and annual basis as well as implementing solutions to address key risks identified during audits
• To review the business processes, policies and communication with the aim of ensuring that it complies with applicable DA policies and procedures, provide recommendations and ensure implementation of revised processes
