This Learnership serves to equip learners to understand the underlying principles of major areas related to the pharmaceutical environment. The qualification allows for a number of career paths in the Dispensary Department, thereby promoting the notion of quality lifelong learning. The successful applicant will receive on the job training and a Qualified Pharmacist Assistant Basic qualification

Requirements…

Essential:

  • Grade 12 / Matric
  • Subjects: Grade 12 Mathematical, Life Science and/or Physical Science (with at least an average of 50% for all)
  • Good communication skills
  • Willing and able to work retail hours
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Fluent in English (read, write and speak)
  • Work in line with the South African Pharmacy Council Scope of Practice
  • Team player
  • Time management

Job Description:

  • Assist in the sale of Schedule 1 medicines or scheduled substances
  • Assist with the compounding, manipulation or preparation of a non-sterile medicine or scheduled substance, according to a formula and standard operating procedures approved by the Responsible Pharmacist
  • Assist with the manufacturing of a non-sterile medicine or scheduled substance according to a formula and standard operating procedures approved by the responsible pharmacist
  • Assist the re-packaging of medicine
  • Assist in the distribution and control of stock of Schedule 1 to Schedule 5 medicines or scheduled substances
  • Provide information to individuals in order to promote health
