The Durban Green Corridors nonprofit company has been newly formed to carry forward the implementation of the pre-existing Durban Green Corridors Programme on behalf of the eThekwini Municipality and other private and civil society partners.
Job Title: Programmes/Projects Operations Manager
Job Location: Blue Lagoon, Durban
Reports to: Chief Executive Officer
Responsibilities:
- Manage the development and implementation of the Durban Green Corridors Environmental Programme consisting of the following main work areas:
– Engage in the Transformation of various Green Open Spaces or sites under DGC for Ecotourism and Youth Empowerment
– Use of riparian plastic pollution management system to create circular economy development
– Use of Bio-based to create circular economy development
- Manage operations to ensure that the operational processes and procedures are in place to meet the requirements of the organisation, this includes Management of Special Infrastructural Development Projects which involves implementing teams, procurement of materials and services
- Effective planning, organisation of resources, rollout of projects and processes according to agreed Project Implementation Plans
- Liaise with relevant departments including finance and the office of the CEO, effectively plan the resources allocation as per site requirements
- Oversee the inventory of all operational related equipment as well as vehicles
- Identify and report problem areas, and maintain health and safety standards within the DGC sites
- Work with the CEO and management in the growth path of DGC Environmental Management Programme
- Establish, maintain, lead relations with stakeholders and operational partners
- Support the CEO in the development of resourcing partnerships and mobilization of projects resources
- Supervise team members and be able to manage multicultural teams and demonstrate a high degree of cultural sensitivity
- Motivate, organize and encourage teamwork within the workforce to ensure set productivity targets are met
Requirements:
- Grade 12
- Diploma or Degree in Project Management, Business Management with Project Management as a major or any relevant qualification from a recognized tertiary institution
- A qualification in Environment Management will be an added advantage
- Minimum of five years’ extensive experience as in this advertised role, familiar with engaging in projects and programmes of various kinds
- Leading in discussions with professionals in the design, planning and implementation of infrastructural development projects

- Computer Literacy: Microsoft Office
- Knowledge of Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) or/and Gantt Charts
- Facilitation and report writing skills
