Electrical Technician Job Vacancy

Sappi Ngodwana is seeking to employ a suitably qualified Electrical Technician to limit down time by solving problems on equipment on a daily basis and give electrical plant support on technical detail

 

Minimum Requirements

National Diploma Electrical Engineering High Voltage
Power Electronics will be advantagous

At least 5 years’ experience in a heavy industrial environment

SAP Literacy will be advantageous

Valid Driving License

 

Job Specification

Assists Engineers with investigations to supply recommendations concerning improvement of any electrical equipment and preventative actions

Fault finding and fault rectification on programmable logic controllers, drives, turbine generators and electrical switchgear

Manage modifications to existing equipment and new installation projects, assisting Engineers with commissioning and quality control to ensure standard, equipment choices and ensuring the availability of proper documentation

Project- and Contract Management from start to finish draws up enquiry specification documents as required and liaise with suppliers and or external resources.

Ensures good standards of work done by inspecting and commissioning plant modifications

Calibrates and optimizes equipment to ensure absolute maximum benefit of equipment

Performs stand by duties as required

Knowledge of plant operations, safety procedures, ISO 18001

Understanding of MV power generation, reticulation, distribution equipment and protection systems

Sound knowledge of PLC’s, DCS AC and DC Drives

Excellent fault finding and diagnostic techniques

Good communication skills at all levels, basic supervisory skills, self-motivation and the ability to display initiative are essential

It is a requirement that the incumbent be prepared to work overtime/standby and respond to after-hours calls to breakdowns when necessary

Computer literacy essential
