Job Title: FCM Project Coordinator

Job Description: North West FCM Project Coordinator
Reporting To: Brinthia Dawood
Date of Appointment: 1st February 2019
Performance Assessment Cycle: Quarterly
Salary bracket: R145 000 – R185 000 per Annum (Experience related)

Summary Description

To project manage and implement the Family and Community Motivators Programme across 4 districts of the North West Province.

Position Overview

  • To plan with the ELRU team the implementation of the FCM Programme for a 12 month period
  • To manage and implement the Programme through site support with FCMs and follow-up with DSD officials at 8 service points, district and provincial levels
  • To monitor the implementation of the Programme and assist in addressing challenges with DSD officials as it arises

General Roles and Responsibilities

Project Management and Implementation

  • Manage, supervise, coordinate and support 80 FCMs in 4 districts at 8 DSD service points in accordance with instructions from ELRU
  • Assist with the annual set up of the project in the four districts and provincial level engagement with DSD, which includes recruitment of FCM training, community entry/household entry and stakeholders engagement
  • Provide direct observation and mentoring support to FCMs during site visits
  • Hold discussions with FCMs on their challenges which needs to be addressed by DSD or ELRU, depending on the challenge they are facing
  • Liaise and meet with DSD NPO support, social worker and social auxiliary workers at each DSD service points during site visits
  • Bring issues or challenges experienced in the field by FCMs to the attention of supervisors/auxiliary social workers/DSD site managers for their action

Project Monitoring and Reporting

  • Prepare and submit monthly coordinator’s report
  • Contribute to the quarterly DSD and Ilifa Labantwana
  • Investigate the availability and nature of local resources, services and income generating opportunities
  • Ability to communicate with people outside the organisation, representing the organisation to customers, the public, government, and other external sources. This information can be exchanged in person, in writing, or by telephone or e-mail
  • Perform any other tasks relevant to the project as deemed necessary by the FCM Programme Manager

Qualification and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Code B Driver’s licence
  • Based in Mahikeng
  • Prudent financial management in handling of budget/accounting
  • Minimum of 5 years professional work experience in community development
  • Early Childhood Development (ECD) experience
  • Ability to work in a team and to sometimes tight deadlines
  • Very good mastering of English (both verbal and written)
  • Prudent Financial Management skills in ensuring budget is adhered to
  • Reporting proficiency in co-ordinators, funding and head office reports
  • Ability to create new ideas, relationships, systems, or products, including creative contributions
  • Proficient in use of computer applications related to the tasks (Microsoft Office)
  • Experience of working with local NGOs and government bodies would be an advantage
