Job Title: Checkpoint Producer 
Location: Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa

Contract Type: Temporary 12 Months
Salary: Market Related

Job Summary:
The purpose of this role is to research, plan, script and supervise the filming and editing of a 23-minute long insert monthly.

EDITORIAL:
•Come up with unique, well researched story ideas and be able to develop them visually
•Have and develop contacts who can feed you unique stories
•Conduct in-depth research before conducting interviews.
•Ask direct, pointed questions that will assist you to hold those implicated in your stories to account
•Write strong scripts that match pictures
•Produce at least one strong original insert a month
•Have the ability to secure exclusive interviews and/or access
•Provide direction in edit and on shoots
•Submit scripts as per the deadline set by your manager
•Write balanced, accurate and unbiased scripts

COMMUNICATION:
•Ability to work in a team
•Good inter-personal skills
•Good communication skills
•Good working relationship with cameramen and editors assigned to your story
•Ability to work under pressure
•Be able to problem solve especially when working under pressure

Key Performance Indicators:
1.At least one documentary is produced a month
2.Scripts are well written to visuals and submitted before a set deadline
3.Edits are of a high quality where sequences are used appropriately
4.Strong interviews are conducted consistently and used effectively to enhance stories
5.Deadlines are consistently met

Requirements:
Education: Diploma or Degree in Journalism and/or media studies
Languages: English
Experience: Minimum 3 years of television documentary producing.

Specific Professional Competencies:
•Thorough understanding of South African and global current affairs.
•Proficient in all aspects of documenatary making from research to filming, writing and editing.
•Team player who is able to work in a pressurized news environment.
•They must be deadline driven to ensure shows are completed on time and are of a high technical standard.
