Reporting to: Programme Editor.

The purpose of this role is to ensure all technical aspects of the bulletin are met. To assist with producing creative and compelling content for the Channel.

1.WRITING
•Good knowledge of South African and global news
•Ability to write to visuals
•Fact checking all details
•Stories must be accurate and unbiased

2.TECHNICAL
•Excellent understanding of newsroom workflow systems (Dalet)
•Ability to edit visuals, cut headlines according to script
•Cutting of bytes, interviews and overlay
•Conduct research on programme topics
•Check electronic media, social media and articles of interest
•Check archives for specified and appropriate visuals

3.COMMUNICATION
•Ability to work in a team
•Good inter-personal skills
•Good communication skills
•Ability to work under pressure in a breaking news environment
•Being able to problem solve especially in breaking news environment

Key Performance Indicators:
1.Ensure bulletins are technically sound
2.Ensure videolines match the script/story
3.Ensure correct CG’s are in place
4.Ensure they communicate with reporters and writers for updates on stories
5.Must be able to adapt in a breaking news environment
6.Good understanding of newsroom workflow systems

Requirements
Education: Diploma or Degree in Journalism and/or media studies
Languages: English
Experience: Minimum 3 years of television production experience.

Specific Professional Competencies:
•Thorough understanding of South African and global news and current affairs.
•Proficient in newsroom workflow systems and production.
•Must be a team player who is able to work in a pressurized 24 hour news environment.
•Must be deadline driven to ensure bulletins make transmission on time and are of a high technical standard.
