Job Title: Reporter
Location: Cape Town, Western Cape, South Africa

Job Summary:
The purpose of this role is to plan, research and produce news stories relevant for the Afrikaans speaking news audience, and
meeting the editorial requirements and standards of eNuus. To provide news content from the field for
other platforms, such as eNCA and online.

1.Research and Planning:
•Checking electronic media (wires and online), articles of interest in newspapers and study overseas media.
•Arranging and preparing for interviews.
•Conducting preliminary telephonic and follow-up probing interviews.
•Brief cameraman and interviewees on topics beforehand.
•Screening functions, events for possible newsworthy items.
•Have the ability to come up with unique story angles.
•Identifying stories through research, sourcing and networking.
•Contributing story ideas to the daily and forward planning diaries.

2.Production:
•Conducting live crossings.
•Checking archives for specified news items and visuals
•Writing final copy of news stories for broadcast
•Laying voice on tape and present on camera
•Directing video editor to cut pictures according to storyline, editing pictures and notes
•Skills may be reasonably applied to the same or similar group of tasks as required for the eNuus production process and broadcast

3.Multimedia & Online:
•Send images and videos from the field to online
•Increase the social media output, particularly on Twitter, using the designated handle and hashtags
•Write articles for online
•Alert online/multimedia team to rushes/footage and any good interviews that can be used as soon as the visuals are ingested

Key Performance Indicators:
1.News stories relevant for the Afrikaans speaking audience are suggested, planned and researched efficiently on a daily basis.
2.Content meets the editorial standards and requirements of eNuus and eNCA at all times.
3.Story deadlines are met.
4.Communication between the reporter, cameraman, video editor and other members of the editorial team is done in a respectful and professional manner to produce the best results for the bulletin.

Requirements:
Education: Degree in Journalism or related relevant qualification
Languages: Afrikaans and English
Experience: Minimum 4 years journalism experience

Specific Professional Competencies:
•Demonstrate exceptional knowledge of the Afrikaans language
•Demonstrate thorough understanding of South African politics and general news
