Ernst & Young South Africa recruits: Quality & Risk Management – Associate Director – JOH00015 to be based in Johannesburg

The Quality and Risk Management (Q&RM) Group has an important role in promoting a culture of “Quality in Everything We Do” at Ernst & Young. The group develops and implements quality and risk management enablers, including policies, processes, methodologies, training and tools to support our people in the delivery of consistent, high quality service. As a Senior Manager in this role, you will sit in the Tax practice and concentrate entirely in the independence issues and Q&RM policies for the whole of Tax.

Responsibilities:

Understand the key requirements of the firm and regulators’ independence rules and policies and apply these to the tax practice.

Assists client teams with obtaining background materials required to initiate business.

Act as liaison between the client teams, other members of the Q&RM team and various functional areas within the firm.

Assist with the research and formulation of responses to queries from internal clients.

Manage tasks and activities related to the execution of the firm’s pre-approval process.

Manage tasks and activities in a timely manner and is responsible for specific outcomes.

Build a network of people within Q&RM and across the firm.

Provide judgment to initial consultations and/or submissions review and rapidly develop an understanding of key requirements of firm and regulators’ independence rules and policies.

Develop a comprehensive knowledge of existing policies, research issues and through situation specific inquiries, propose solutions to issues.

Assist with the delivery of training sessions for internal clients.

To qualify, candidates must have:
a bachelor’s degree
approximately 2-4 years related audit or risk management experience
previous experience in Big 4 or Big 4 like environment is a plus
experience in a demanding, multitasking environment
ability to interface with all levels of management
must be able to work independently but within a team environment
proficiency in MS Office, Lotus Notes and strong familiarity with technology
strong conflict management, communication and analytical skills
