LOGISTICS COORDINATOR – Johannesburg Newsroom

Reporting to the Group Executive Producer your Key Performance Areas will include:
Coordinating all incoming and outgoing feeds
Ensuring that once the feeds have been sent back to the server that they are dropped into the “on air” folder
Keeping the media room aware of any live interviews that will be taking place during the course of the day and ensuring that they are recording them
Communicating with Cape Town to let them know what stories are in line to be fed to them
Ensuring that the editors are aware of the stories that need to be edited and that they are edited in time for the bulletins
Coordinating all edits and giving priority to the order of the rundown
Arranging the SNG if it needs to go out on deployment
Giving contact details of the SNG to the engineers, output editors, EP’s, operations media
Giving the relevant downlink frequencies to the engineers
Trouble shooting with the engineers if there are technical issues with the SNG

Prime Time
Prioritizing the lead stories in edit and ensuring that they are fed to Cape Town
Liaising with Cape Town regarding late stories
Ensuring that the tapes are taken to the control room
Feeding stories to Cape Town after the bulletin

News Night
Getting all stories onto tape and the server before 7pm
Cutting the headlines for the bulletin
Liaising with Cape Town if any stories are coming from there

Requirements
At least 5 years broadcasting experience
Working knowledge of broadcast systems and workflow
Technologically astute
Ability to work under pressure
Ability to prioritize effectively
Knowledge of bulletins produced in Cape Town
