The EPMO Project Manager is responsible for Managing a collection of projects or programmes grouped together to facilitate effective management of efforts to meet business objectives

To manage, deliver and control projects and project resources according to the requirements and approved methodology

 

 

 

 

Job Title: EPMO Project Manager
Location: Johannesburg

Job Summary:
Duties & Responsibilities:
Delivery Management

Establish the scope of the project, refine the objectives and define the course of action required to attain the project objectives
Ensure that the project includes all the work required to complete the project successfully as per project lifecycle
Effectively allocate available resources, determine where additional resources will be required, delegate tasks according to roles
Identify and manage project dependencies
Adhere to Project Governance requirements
Proactively manage changes in project scope, ensure that any change to project scope is documented and approved
Analyse and interpret project information for dashboard and take corrective action accordingly
Identify any areas in which changes to the plan are required; and initiate the corresponding changes
Develop and manage project documentation required to effectively monitor and control project delivery including but not limited to Project Charter, Project management plans, Project Schedule, Project Budget, Communication plans
Facilitate and manage project meetings and feedback to stakeholders
Plan, estimate, budget, manage and control costs so that the project can be completed within the approved budget
Conduct weekly schedules of project resources availability and ensure correct and timeous capturing of timesheet information
Conduct risk management planning, identification, analysis, response planning and controlling risk on a project

Measurable:
Projects are completed on time and within allocated budget
All quality and governance standards are met
Project progress and completion is aligned with KPIs and key objectives
Interdependencies are tracked and controlled
Effective contingency plans are activated to diffuse situations and ensure project continuity and completion within timelines
Accuracy of forecasting and estimates

Stakeholder Liaison:
Liaise with business partners to allocate the required resources to execute projects
Maintain an accurate weekly project schedule to communicate to business (internal and external) stakeholders
Identify all people or organizations impacted by the project, analysing stakeholder expectations and impact on the project and develop appropriate management strategies for effectively engaging stakeholders in project decisions and execution
Identify and manage change management activities through relevant change management processes

Measurable:
Clear milestones are set and documented into a project plan
Regular feedback given, raising risks and deadline changes to all relevant stakeholders
Adherence to agreed SLA’s
Signed-off stakeholder and communications plan per project
Adherence to communications plan

Learning and Development:
Pursue continuous learning in Project Management and Information Technology environments
Collaborate with DBS Management to ensure project teams have the right skills
Ensure alignment of projects to the correct project methodology
Research and innovate to offer technology solutions to business, while building and managing a knowledge repository for DBS PMO
Contribute to new ways of working by collaboration, knowledge sharing and use PM tools and methodologies to improve the project environment
Expand IT Technical capabilities by obtaining certifications that match changing information and technology needs of the organisation

Measurable:
Compliance of projects within Project Management Framework
Updates on formalized training plan (as per PDP)

People Management:
Effectively onboard all project resources (internal and external) to ensure quickest time to performance
Set meaningful performance targets for project resources and clearly outline efforts required to reach deliverables
Manage team performance during project, promoting cohesiveness and taking corrective action where necessary
Assess performance and behaviour of project resources upon project closure
Effectively manage external project resources to ensure alignment on their contractual obligations (deliverables), organization code of conduct, values and culture
Support, coach and mentor project resources
Provide regular, constructive feedback, reinforce performance goals, provide guidance where behavioural problems arise and give recognition for work well done

Measurable:
Performance measures are designed for project resources and communicated to them
Performance reviews are completed
Proof of coaching sessions (attendance registers and minutes

Miscellaneous:
Attend to any other relevant and reasonable tasks as may be required from time to time

Desired Experience & Qualification:
Qualifications:

A relevant degree, diploma, or certification
Professional Programme/ Project Management accreditation eg, PMP (PMI), PM Degree
An Agile certification is advantageous

Minimum Experience:
3-5 years project management experience
PM Certification
Project planning and scheduling
Facilitation
Successfully ran and completed multiple projects simultaneously
Experienced in any leading PMIS tool (PPO Preferred)
Experience within the ICT / Telecoms Industry

Able to manage complex projects including concurrent projects Applies knowledge regarding principles, techniques and tools used in planning, control, monitoring, and review of projects

Applies commercial insight to deliver a prompt and appropriate response to business matters to

Plans, directs, monitors, organizes, controls and reports on the monetary resources of a project Risk Management Identifies, analyses, assesses, controls, avoids,

minimizes or eliminates unacceptable risks to a company

Systems Acumen:

Manages functionality and accessibility of all internal IT processes Remains aware of technological advances in the industry and enhances internal

systems as and when required Oversees IT costs and deliverables

Presentation Skills:

Prepares and delivers clear presentations in line with audience needs, optimally using visual aids,

delivering a clear message that results in mutual understanding and speaking confidently, assertively and professionally
