Position Description:

The DREAMS District Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating and managing the implementation of DREAMS Safe Spaces for AGYW and linkages to the DREAMS core package of services at a district level. The DREAMS District Coordinator will supervise and support the AGYW Supervisors to coordinate and support AGYW Mentors to lead the safe spaces. S/he will report to the DREAMS Provincial Manager (SAB), in the FHI 360Capacity Development and Support (CDS) DREAMS project.

Key Responsibility Areas

  • Lead efforts to recruit AGYW Mentors in the target communities within the district
  • Identify physical spaces in the community that are safe for AGYW working closely with community
  • gatekeepers and DREAMS partners
  • Lead efforts to recruit vulnerable AGYW in the target communities within the district
  • Coordinate and supervise the implementation of all safe space activities, including group educational
  • activities for AGYW and referrals to services and mentoring
  • Coordinate economic strengthening networks, relationships with funders, employers and government
  • or parastatal organizations at a district and sub-district level
  • Provide supportive supervision to AGYW Mentors and ensure they have a supportive working
  • environment and the tools necessary to do their work
  • Ensure data collected from safe spaces is submitted for data capturing; is cleaned, checked and
  • validated and is reported in line with program and donor requirements
  • Represent the CDS/DREAMS project at district partners meetings
  • Contribute to the development of the CDS/DREAMS project’s technical weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports and work plans

Training

  • Identify training needs of AGYW Mentors to improve the quality of mentoring• Provide on the job training on Youth Power Mentoring Toolkit to AGYW Supervisors and Mentors
  • Support completion of routine training reports
  • Report on progress, issues, challenges, and local risk management
  • Monitor quality assurance of mentorship within safe spaces
  • Undertake any other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications, Experience/Skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or its international equivalent in social sciences, health, human development, or related field.
  • At least 3-5 years’ project management experience in coordination, implementation and monitoring of capacity building and training
  • Experience managing, supervising, training and building the capacity of staff
  • Ability to represent FHI 360 to donors, government district officials and the NGO community at the district level
  • High degree of proficiency in written and spoken English and other languages including excellent
  • presentation, training and report writing skills
  • Ability to manage work independently, set realistic priorities, and plan for the successful
  • implementation of activities
  • Ability to work under pressure and strong interpersonal skills
  • Flexible and willingness to undertake additional responsibilities
  • Well-developed computer skills
  • Valid South African driver’s license
  • Eligibility to work in South Africa

Travel

  • 40 -50% travel time
