Job description

The field marketing manager is responsible for building the local face of the brand in their field, in line with the global and national strategies and priorities. They create marketing innovation encompassing local needs and specificities that complement the national strategy, impacting local consumers and thus the successful development of the business

Key responsibilities
Infuse global and national our client strategies, objectives and philosophies in the field
Set regional objectives and clear goals for field marketing specialists to ensure accountability to their key deliverables
Ensure top notch understanding of the consumer in various fields across the respective region which forms the basis of local idea generation and execution
Work closely with and assist the national marketing specialists in defining ideas and programs to build brand image and increase understanding of the products functionality on a local level
Act as the “regional intelligence“ for the field sharing consumer insights with the national team


Marketing innovation:
Develop, own and execute new ideas that are locally relevant complementing the activation of global and national initiatives working closely with the line manager
Innovate and create your own plans based on the knowledge and ownership of your region and make digital and social media an integral part of these plans
Ensure field fitting synergies between trade and marketing initiatives
Involve field marketing specialist, wings team and SBMs on idea generation for the field and capitalise on their personal university lifestyle to identify technology/digitally/socially driven consumer trends early on
Identify and selectively support cross-marketing (with sales, marketing and our client Media House) opportunities


Premium appeal and executional excellence:

Create, support and execute key events, scenes and marketing opportunities that reflect the our client brand values
Engage in local grass-root events for sport and culture that are relevant for our client
Identify the local heroes in relevant our client scenes and bring them to the world of our client in a personal way
Build up a sustainable relationship with the local authorities establishing strong networks
Build and maintain key relationships through local sport and cultural opinion leaders
Build up solid relationships with local media outlets (TV, radio, print, digital and social media), activate the our client content pool and integrate relevant RBMH products into your marketing mix
Support and amplify national digital and social media plans around launches and initiatives in the field
Lead the consumer collecting program with excellence, ultimately managed by the field marketing specialist
Ensure well-chosen and premium presence in beneficial local non trade and endemic stores
Continually re-apply global, national and regional best practices when it makes sense
Implement and uphold a clean logistical system to ensure you have the right tools and management in place to support the local needs succeeding in premium appearance


Organizational capabilities and enabling structure:
Sourcing, hiring and training field marketing specialists who fit the brand, have a our client attitude and perfectly fit the field scenes
Coach/assistant the field marketing specialists in sourcing, hiring and training their student brand managers and wings team
Provide on-going coaching and support to ensure field marketing specialist achieve their deliverables
Build the annual objectives for each field marketing specialist and conduct on-going, mid-year and end of year performance evaluations
Regularly assess and identify the development needs of the field marketing specialist working closely with the national field marketing manager to help make it happen
Identify and nurture key talent for the potential space-to-shine opportunity
Ensure transparent communication and share learnings with the line manager
Work cross functionally, managing internal and external requests in line with the annual business plan priorities
Manage field expenses and general administration
Develop and manage the regional budget with the support of the line manager


Key results and deliverables
Create a premium and aspirational local face of the brand in relevant and key scenes with a strong digital/social media footprint
Deliver the annual approved business plan for the region and achievement of agreed individual objectives
Maintain healthy relationships with key contacts in the region be a top notch networker
Deliver comprehensive and insightful analysis to support and review consumer marketing strategies with the national team
Drive heavy usage across all consumption occasions by the correct choice of field marketing initiatives
Show that field marketing specialists are role models and strong people managers
Act as a role model and display the our client values with a consistent tone of voice that is motivating and inspiring
Stay-on or under budget and identify cost saving opportunities for the region
No regretted losses in the field marketing team and encourage internal promotions



Education and qualifications

Marketing Degree

Ideally a former field marketing specialist with a perfect understanding in consumer collecting, sports or culture marketing
Minimum one year experience of line management with expertise in hiring, training, administration and motivating teams


Knowledge and skills
A strategic thinker who takes initiative and ownership and “makes things happen”
Leadership, motivation and team skills
Strong analytical, planning, budgetary and project management competencies
A commitment to people management and development with a proven ability to build and develop talent
Understanding the core scenes in the region and has strong networking skills
Excellent communication skills, including presenting and training abilities
Ability to cultivate a team environment
Creative mind with a track record of putting new ideas into practice and assessing results
