1. FIELD RANGER 10 POSTS REF NO: C3/15/37

Directorate: State-Owned Nature Reserves
SALARY : R110 739.00 – R130 446.00 p.a.
CENTRE : Hans Merensky Nature Reserve, Langjan Nature Reserve, Makuya Nature
Reserve (2 posts), Modjadji Nature Reserve, Musina Nature Reserve, Percy
Fyfe Nature Reserve, Letaba Ranch Nature Reserve (2 posts), Nwanedi Nature Reserve

REQUIREMENTS : Grade 12 (matric) certificate required. Formal Field Ranger training will be an
added advantage. Previous experience as a Field Ranger will be an
advantage. Firearm proficient certificate required. No criminal record. A
valid driver’s license required. Physical fit and in good health. Age 20-35.
Preference will be given to applicants living in close proximity to the
respective nature reserves.

DUTIES : Assist with the protection of the reserve and its natural environment
resources which will include the following: nature conservation patrols;
inspect and repair boundary fence; warn visitors on unauthorized actions
within the reserves and report non-compliance; assist with fire management
services which would include the following: execute fire burning programme,
maintain the fire belts along the fences and facilities, conduct block burn;
assist with access control. Assist with monitoring of ecological processes,
habitats and biodiversity in nature reserves which will include the following:
gather biological and ecological data; report on areas for rehabilitation;
monitor rehabilitation areas. Assist with the monitoring and control of
recreational facilities which will include the following: control and monitoring
of recreational activities; maintenance of recreational areas.

Directorate: Wildlife Trade And Regulation
SALARY : R110,739.00.00 – R130,446.00 p.a.
CENTRE : Mopani District: Tzaneen Service Centre, Vhembe District: Malamulele
Service Centre, Vhembe District: Thohoyandou Service Centre

REQUIREMENTS : Grade 12 certificate or minimum of three (3) years in game ranging. Tracking
and firearm handling. A valid driver’s license. Report writing in game
ranging. Verbal and written communication skills.

DUTIES : Management of damage causing animals. Processing of damage causing
animal’s carcasses. Field patrol. Regulate and monitor wildlife centres.
Monitor of hunting activities. Conduct Game farm inspections.
