FIELD RANGER 4 POSTS STATE-OWNED NATURE RESERVES REF NO: C1/15/12
SALARY : R103 494 per annum

Atherstone Nature Reserve
Wonderkop Nature Reserve
Modjadji Nature Reserve

REQUIREMENTS : Grade 12 (matric) certificate required. Formal Field Ranger training will be an
added advantage. Previous experience as a Field Ranger will be an advantage.
Firearm proficient and SAPS certification required. No criminal record. Driver’s
license required. Physical fit and in good health. Age 20-35. Preference will be
given to applicants living in close proximity to the respective nature reserves.

DUTIES : Assist with the protection of the reserve and its natural environment resources
which will include the following: nature conservation patrols; inspect and repair
boundary fence; warn visitors on unauthorized actions within the reserves and
report non-compliance; assist with fire management services which would
include the following: execute fire burning programme, maintain the fire belts
along the fences and facilities, conduct block burn; assist with access control.
Assist with monitoring of ecological processes, habitats and biodiversity in nature
reserves which will include the following: gather biological and ecological data;
report on areas for rehabilitation; monitor rehabilitation areas. Assist with the
monitoring and control of recreational facilities which will include the following:
control and monitoring of recreational activities; maintenance of recreational
areas.
