The Financial and Fiscal Commission (FFC) is an independent statutory advisory body that makes recommendations to Parliament, Legislatures and organized local government on any financial and fiscal matters.

The FFC conducts evidence-based policy-related research that aims to ensure the creation and maintenance of effective, equitable and sustainable system of intergovernmental fiscal relations (IGFR) in South Africa. Internship:

The FFC is offering internships in 2017 to provide unemployed graduates with an opportunity to gain practical experience within the IGFR/ Public Finance sector.

The internship at FFC further provides incumbents with an opportunity to benefit from skills transfer and exposure to programmes and work activities of the Commission through coaching and mentoring.

We are looking for applicants with no work experience and who have not previously benefited from an internship programmes.

Job Description: 
The intern would be expected to provide research assistance, data set compilation, modelling, exploratory data work, literature searches and whatever else may be assigned.

Salary: The intern will receive an annual stipend as follows:

Undergraduate R171 069.00
Honors R217 839, 00
Masters R243 747, 00
PHD R258 711, 00

Duration: 
The duration of the internship is 2 years.

Requirements: Applicants should have completed minimum of a Degree in Economics, Public Finance, Statistics, or related fields.

Applicant should demonstrate a sound knowledge of Microsoft excel, word, PowerPoint and proven ability to work with various quantitative software packages would be an advantage.

Applicants should also have good writing and presentation skills, with excellent command of written and spoken English.

The internship is reserved for South African citizens aged 35 years or younger.

Priority will be given to designated groups and applicants with a postgraduatequalification. Location of internship: Financial and Fiscal Commission Offices, Midrand and/or Cape Town, South Africa.
