Job Purpose is to advise the Market Infrastructure and OTC Derivatives providers internally on a wide range of practices, conduct and concerns affecting the industry and allied activities. The person appointed to this position will report to the Manager: Market Supervision Desktop.

 

 

Job Title: Specialist Analyst x2

Specification
•Identify shortcomings and anomalies to regulatory framework and subordinate legislation;
•Assist the Department with the provision of legal advice on financial markets legislation;
•Assist with the reform of financial markets legislation and drafting of amendments as the need arises;
•Consider and advise the Department on proposed amendments to the listing requirements and rules of the market infrastructures;
•Assist the Department to maintain an effective framework for supervision of Over-the-Counter Derivatives Providers (ODPs);
•Assist in the supervision and the monitoring of compliance with financial markets legislation, regulations and the rules of the market infrastructures;
•Represent the Authority at relevant meetings of the market infrastructures;
•Liaise with and render appropriate regulatory guidance to stakeholders after consultation with the Manager and Head of Department.

Requirements
An LLB degree or similar degree, with at least 6 years relevant experience in the South African Capital Markets Industry, finance or related commerce. Experience within a financial markets environment, investment banking, structured finance or similar will be a distinct advantage. An ability to understand complex financial instruments and processes including derivatives, bonds, equities and foreign exchange and the risks associated with these instruments would be desirable. Solid experience in the monitoring of corporate governance frameworks including experience in establishing and maintaining professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders and other professionals (auditors and risk specialists), demonstrable experience in reporting on business plans and assessing general performance is preferred. A Master’s degree would be an added advantage.
