FNB Connect: Voice Engineer

The successful applicant will be employed as a Voice engineer in FNB. The position requires very good skills in Linux, Asterisk systems. The applicant must have an Asterisk DCAP qualification with a minimum of 3 years experience.

The applicant will be required to work over time from time to time, as well as certain week-ends during scheduled maintenance slots. The applicant must be willing to work in the Johannesburg CBD, Randburg and Sandton area, but will be based permanently in the Johannesburg CBD area. The applicant must also be willing to be on after hour call out support. All after hours work and standby time will be compensated.

All prior Unix work (Solaris, HP-UX, AIX, Apple etc. will be taken into consideration)

Linux Update/Patch management	System Monitoring
RPM Repository Maintenance	Change Management
Apache Web Server Installation and Configuration	Assist development team in trouble shooting tasks
MySQL DB Server Installation, Configuration and Administration	Log file analysis
Xen Installation and Configuration	Security auditing
Virtual Machine Management	Intrusion Prevention (planning and implementation)

Additional Tasks:
Maintain all system diagrams	Raising of change orders
Documentation of all implementations	Reporting of Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) to line manager
Operating Procedure documentation

Specific Skills Required:
Expert skills in Linux OS

Above average Unix/Linux Skills (3 years+) especially in:
OS Configuration	RPM
Editing of start-up scripts	tar and related tools
Bash scripting	logrotate
User and Group Management	syslog/syslog-ng
LVM and other disc related tools	Xen
Vim/Emacs	xinetd
Kernel tweaking	snmp (v1, 2 and 3)
GCC	bind (DNS)
heartbeat

Asterisk administration
DUNDI configuration	System Performance Tuning
Capacity Planning	PHP and Perl programming
Realtime configuration & management	Backup planning and implementation
A2billing

Other Skills
Must be a team player	General programming skills will be welcomed
Must be able to handle pressure well	All system diagrams are done in MS Visio, so the relevant skills in MS Visio is also required
Be an innovator	Excellent trouble shooting skills (know how to tail,less,grep etc. any file)
Relevant Tertiary skills could be an advantage (experience is better)
