Job Summary:
This role exists to ensure that a number of tasks are carried out on-site with regard to Safety, Environment, and Efficiency and to assist the Site Agent and other line managers with the efficient and effective running of the site.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Plan work to be done.
Setting out, leveling, and surveying the site.
Work with the team to overcome work-related challenges.
The day-to-day operation of HDPE liner installation, welding, and repairs.
Assist site supervisors with the materials and equipment needs and help to collect supplies for projects
Read and interpret working plans and drawings for the job.
Ability to read & interpret engineer’s plans and specifications.
Ability to effectively communicate with direct reports, peers, and clients.
Assist with the procurement of materials, equipment, and supplies for projects.
Perform system construction activities in a safe and proper manner.
Ability to help maneuverer, cut, fuse, and HDPE liner.
Must be able to work in trenched areas to connect, refit, and adjust liner on landfills and project sites.
Install and weld liner as per specifications;
Deployment of liner
Wedge welding of liner
Extrusion welding of liner
Hot air welding of liner
Repairing of liner
Securing liner using ballasting
Understand environmental and health & safety regulations and perform work in a competent manner
Ensure all Safety and Environmental Statistics are recorded and sent to management monthly.
Knowing and understanding the requirements of the OSHA
Ensure all reported near misses are recorded following procedure and submitted to the Site Agent each week.
Ensure current revisions of drawings are the ones being used on the site.
Requirements:
QUALIFICATIONS:
Grade 12 Certificate.
Competent trade certificate as a Liner Welder
EXPERIENCE:
2 Years’ experience in a specific trade.
SKILLS, QUALITIES, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
Good communication skills.
Problem-solving.
Teamwork and support.
Ethical, Accountable, Reliable, Excellence-orientated.
GENERAL REQUIREMENT:
The position is based on Sites but transfer to other regions may be required as and when necessary.
Must be able to work overtime when required
