Job Title: TAX MANAGER
Location: Edenvale, Gauteng, South Africa
Reference #: TAX MANAGER

Job Summary:
Responsible for tax management aspects of the Fraser Alexander Group of Companies.

Tax Planning and Analysis:

Provide the overall tax framework and assist with the tax planning and analysis for the FA Group.

Manage, maintain and review compliance with transfer pricing policy.

Optimisation of effective tax rate. Formulate tax strategies.

Ensure good understanding of DTA’s that affect the FA Group.

Identify and mitigate tax risks that affect the FA Group.

Improve processes by developing or implementing best tax practices.

Tax Returns/Payments:

Prepare estimated income/provisional tax payments (FAL, FAH and foreign subsidiaries).

Perform year-end accrual reconciliations and review and prepare the tax provision and computations.

Perform tax computations for the purpose of monthly management accounts for all companies.

Prepare income tax returns (FAL, FAH and foreign subsidiaries).

Review monthly VAT returns (FAL and foreign subsidiaries).

Prepare/review other various tax filings (SA and foreign tax): Withholding tax, withholding VAT, PAYE, etc.

Manage all SARS and foreign tax authorities’ queries and interactions with these authorities.

Assistance and Maintenance:

Assist in internal and external audits relating to tax.

Provide and co-ordinate management comments to tax related audit findings.

Provide tax notes on annual financial statements.

Maintain and update tax preparation/computation systems for tax compliance according to latest tax legislation in the countries where FA operates.

Provide an information source in the tax area within the company and group.

Assist with VAT and PAYE processes and compliance.

Provide input for Tax and other committee meetings.

Tax advice to HR regarding taxation of any form on remuneration.

Assist company secretarial function with the tax registration of new companies.

Provide assistance with ad-hoc tax requests or analyses.

Compile and present Group tax reports to Group Audit & Risk Committee bi-annually

Technical Knowledge:

Maintain required level of technical knowledge for SA and foreign taxes.

Research ad-hoc tax projects.

Keep abreast of current developments in the tax area including transfer pricing policies.

Investigate new tax guidelines.

Cash Flow Management:

Assist the Group Reporting and Treasury Manager with expected tax payments and receipts to update cash flow forecasts in order to assess borrowings and/or investment requirements.

Stakeholder Relationships:

Maintain good relationships with tax consultants, internal and external auditors and tax authorities in all jurisdictions.

Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS:

CA(SA) preferred

BCom Accounting with Post-Graduate in tax qualification (e.g. H Dip Tax or equivalent)

EXPERIENCE:

3 years’ management experience

5 years tax exposure

Sound experience and knowledge in international tax
