FUNDISA in a nonprofit organisation established to be a unified platform to pursue excellence in nursing scholarship at Universities in South Africa. The aim of FUNDISA is to promote University nursing practice, research and education in collaboration with other stakeholders. In so doing, FUNDISA aims to strengthen University education for nurses in South Africa and to represent the collective concerns of University Schools of Nursing at national and international level, in order to further the provision of quality health care.

Job Title: Finance Officer
Job Location: Pretoria

Responsibilities:

  • Manage FUNDISA’s financials
  • Manage FUNDISA’s payroll according to all statutory prescripts
  • Maintain, reconcile and update the general ledger and bank statements
  • Issue invoices, receive payments and maintain the sales ledger
  • Ensure transactions are properly recorded and entered into the computerised accounting system
  • Prepare quarterly and yearly financial statements and reports
  • Prepare and participate in external audits
  • Maintain a computerised accounting system
  • Maintain and manage the office petty cash
  • Assist with the preparation and consolidation of project budgets
  • Manage income and expenditure accounts and balance sheet
  • Prepare monthly management accounts on Pastel and report thereon
  • Assist in the development and implementation of financial policies and procedures
  • Maintain a system for staff’s leave
  • Perform any other functions pertaining to financial administration

Requirements:

  • BCom Accounting or other Finance – related degree
  • Minimum of two to three years’ experience as Finance officer or related field
  • Minimum two years’ experience working with donor funds and budgets, preferably in the NGO/ NPO sector
  • Understanding of accounting processes and procedures
  • Competence in PowerPoint Excel, Word and Outlook, financial packages and computerised accounting software
  • Strong skills in managing project finances and a good understanding of the budgeting process
  • Communication skills, written and verbal
  • Understanding of the grant, making process
  • Prompt and efficient reaction to project adjustments and alterations
  • Flexibility during times of change
  • Skills to effectively prioritise and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
  • All-round knowledge of finance and office procedures
