Purpose Of Role
- The role holder is a proactive Account Manager or Specialist, who acts as the desk based point of contact for the customer/partner developing long term customer relationships.
- He/she is responsible for delivering against personal revenue targets and closing own contracts, as well as engaging with others / specialists to deliver customer requirements as necessary.
- Typically responsible for a small number of medium sized accounts, or in some instances, as the single point of contact for one large client e.g. a government body.
- To be responsible, either as part of an overall account team or where managed singly from the desk, for customer satisfaction to their nominated clients.
- Whilst generally engaged in traditional business opportunities, in some instances (e.g. in a specialist capacity) to use their in depth knowledge to operate on higher value / more complex product / solutions that span across a number of ICT chapters.
- May have responsibility for outbound sales prospecting and opportunities.
- Drives business growth for BT by closing contracts, either as part of an overall account team via recognised hand offs or closing own contracts where acting as the single point of contact.
- Recognises and delivers against opportunities for business growth via a multi channel approach.
- Responsible for delivering against own revenue targets as well as targets in customer satisfaction.
- Responsible for how to deliver against revenue targets either on his/her own, or as part of virtual sales team.
Desk Based Account Manager

- Degree level, or equivalent job experience.
- Relevant experience in Desk Based selling, and delivering against a multi channel strategy.
- Professional approach to team and client relationships.
- Track record of delivering against revenue targets.
- Good awareness and knowledge of all low / medium complexity products and services in core business areas.
- For DBAMs – knowledge of a couple of key ICT areas.
- For Desk Based Specialists – in depth knowledge across the ICT chapters.
