The ideal candidate will have the following competencies:

 

Ability

• actively stimulate and encourage opportunities for the exercise of HR leadership within the organisation
• advise on the merits, difficulties and appropriate implementation mechanisms associated with HR work
• advise on strategic human resource development matters
• assess current economic and market changes, and their impact on the organisation
• identify ethical issues facing the organisation and dealing with stakeholders
• use influence and persuasion to further HR goals within the organisation and community in which it operates

 

Experience

• advising senior management on the possible effects of governments’ policies and legislations on the organisation and its activities
• designing and gaining acceptance of a change programme
• designing programmes aimed at resolving problems of poor performance, collective or individual
• monitoring and controlling of HR budgets
• planning and implementing recruitment/selection systems for the organisation
• prioritising, planning and delegating work to a team of subordinates

 

Knowledge

• all relevant labour legislation
• current trends and best practises in human resources practises
• the types of strategy adopted by organisations and the importance of strategic HR reviews , monitoring and benchmarking
