The above mentioned position is available in the Infrastructure and Facilities Management Department at Robben-Island Museum. The purpose of the job is to assist with Facilities Maintenance and repairs in any of the following fields: Plumbing, Electrical, Carpentry.
Handyman Intern – Robben Island Museum
Duties
- Inspect the quality of work done by service providers on maintenance projects and ensure quality of works is adhered to;
- Documentation filing;
- Draw up and submit Specifications for maintenance and repair;
- Inspections and Condition assessments;
- Carry Out Miscellaneous job related duties as assigned;
- Submit minutes, reports to Unit Manager;
- Attend site briefings.
Requirements
- Handyman with National Certificate N1- N3 Building & Civil Engineering in any of the following fields:
- Plumbing
- Electrical
- Carpentry
- Knowledge of general building maintenance;
- Knowledge of safety standard regulations;
- Computer Literacy;
- Knowledge of Building Materials & Specifications;
- Knowledge of Quality commitment & work standards;
- Ability to communicate well;
- Valid driver’s licence an added advantage;
- Familiar with common hand and power tools used for maintenance;
- Fault Finding;
- Repairs;
- Servicing;
- Judgement;
- Decisiveness;
- Analysis;
- Stress Tolerance;
- Adaptability & Flexibility
