REQUIREMENTS : 3-year tertiary qualification and extensive experience in a marine environment
or harbour operations environment, Knowledge of Marine Living Resources Act (MLRA), Public Financial Management Act (PFMA), Labour Relations Act (LRA), Public Service Act ((PSA) and Maritime Law, Experience in dealing with different stakeholders/harbour users and financial management, Ability
to supervise staff, Valid driver’s licence (minimum Code B) and the ability to
drive, Ability to write reports, Computer skills, Ability to develop, analyse and
apply policies.

 

DUTIES : Manage and service all operational needs at the fishing harbours with regard
to allocating marine fishing facilities such as mooring space, landing sites and
fish cleaning sheds, Ensure compliance with the OHS Act and physical
inspection of the civil infrastructure such as buildings and roads, Conduct
regular meetings with relevant stakeholders, Keep stakeholders informed of
developments and consult on mutual matters, Enforce compliance with
harbour regulations, Ensure that users pay for services rendered, Ensure
compliance from vessel owners entering the harbour that they obtain
permission, Manage effective financial and general administration, Ensure
record keeping of financial documents, collection of harbour revenue and
banking and maintaining harbour registers, Manage capacity and
development.

appointed on a probation period of 12 months. The Department reserves the
