Morobe Mining Joint Venture (MMJV) has been formed as a partnership between Harmony Gold and Newcrest Mining to explore and develop mines in the Morobe Province of Papua New Guinea (PNG). We are currently operating the Hidden Valley Mine in PNG, which will produce 4.2Mtpa of ore to obtain 350,000 gold equivalent ounces per annum. We also have advanced exploration programs in the Wafi region where significant gold and copper deposits have been discovered. Our other exploration programs cover tracts of the most prospective areas of Morobe Province and are yielding exciting results from which we intend to establish a platform for growth in the Joint Venture. Hidden Valley Gold Mine is the foundation of our business strategy.

 

Duties 

We are seeking a supply professional who is skilled across all aspects of supply and logistics to join our team at our Hidden Valley site.  This role will assist with implementing and managing the supply and logistics activities for the Morobe Mining Joint Ventures and provide support where needed.  Reporting to the Supply Manager this role will be responsible for the following:

  • Working within budget allocation and approval of requisitions within your assigned delegation.
  • Liaising with the freight consolidation, forwarding and customs agent to ensure the proper movement, clearance, and delivery of purchased goods to site.
  • Overseeing the timely receipt, storage and issue of all materials to the Hidden Valley site.
  • Assisting with the negotiation of supply contracts; including long term, short term and one off agreements; as requested.
  • Providing support, information, reports, statistics, recommendations and other information to Morobe Mining Joint Venture management.
  • Ensuring that the supply sections and employees comply with all regulatory Morobe Mining policy and procedures and work in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Ensuring all inventory activities are managed, monitored and maintained correctly.
  • Assisting with the preparation of capital, manning and operational budgets on an annual basis.
  • Assisting with in the preparation of departmental monthly reports; including activities for the month, actual costs versus budget, safety and other relevant information.
  • Reviewing and controlling the activities of all contractors under the supply control.
  • Providing relevant training and guidance to the supply team.
  • Reviewing and maintaining written procedures for all inventory, warehousing and supply activities on site.
  • Ensuring all supply activities are in compliance with Morobe Mining Joint Ventures’ SOX requirements.
  • Ensuring and other information Inventory and assets are securely and safely stored and assisting with the disposal of surplus materials.

 

To be successful in this role you will have a minimum of five years experience within a supply and logistics leadership role in the mining industry and be highly organisedwith the ability to delegate. You must also have had significant exposure/experience in purchasing and contract management.  Previous SOX regulatory knowledge, Pronto experience and overseas experience are essential. Communication is key so strong interpersonal and relationship building skills are a must.  An appreciation for PNG culture and ability to speak Tok-Pisin will be highly regarded.

This role is FIFO to PNG on a 16/12 roster. An excellent salary package is on offer reflecting the skills and knowledge of the successful candidate.
