Our large national telecoms company has a requirement for a CTO to work from their Durban or JHB offices. You will be responsible for identifying, managing and deploying appropriate technology, watching trends in the market and ensuring that business navigates these trends through strategic network planning.

Location: South Africa

Job Summary:
Duties & Responsibilities:
Set a vision for how technology will be used in the company.
Set the technology architecture of the company ie fibre, microwave, IP/MPLS, DWDM, GPON, ensuring that the technology architecture supports the business priorities.
Ensure that technological resources meet the company’s short and long-term needs.
Stay abreast of new trends and best practices in the technology, implementation, and service delivery landscape.
Create timelines for the development and deployment of all technological services.
Make executive decisions on behalf of the company’s technological requirements.
Manage technology budgets CAPEX and OPEX
Align company technology, implementation, and service delivery resources with company’s short and long-terms goals.
Create and implement technology, implementation, and service delivery strategies.

Desired Experience & Qualification:
Honours Degree in Engineering or Computer Science.
Masters Degree in Engineering or Computer Science preferable.
A Business Management qualification preferrable.
12 years post qualification experience in the telecommunication industry within technology, infrastructure network build and service delivery environments.
At least five years’ experience operating on a senior managerial level.
Five years’ experience in formulating and managing a technology strategy.
Knowledge of Technology Architecture.
Knowledge of Telecommunications Network Infrastructure.
