Hospice Palliative Care Association of South Africa (HPCA) is a national organisation operating in all nine provinces in South Africa with 134 members and affiliated hospices countrywide.

Job Title: Operations Manager
Job Location: Western Cape

The purpose of the Operations Manager is to take overall responsibility for the strategic implementation, management coordination and integration of HPCA operational activities.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the USAID project and have working knowledge of USAID regulations
  • Provide strategic support to project management teams and project implementation staff activities in liaison with MANCO
  • Provide leadership to develop and execute strategic implementation of projects
  • Coordinate HPCA project and implementation plans
  • Liaise with HPCA CEO and HPCA MANCO, funders to develop annual HPCA workplan in line with strategic plan ensuring activities are carried out to high professional standards
  • Recruit staff members in line with staffing plan and labour legislation with guidance from HR Manager
  • Develop and manage hospice self-assessment process;
  • Manage operations staff liaison with hospice managers, regional directors and HPCA staff to provide mentorship to member organisations
  • Regular communication with hospices and sub-grantees
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with hospices and sub-grantees
  • Ensure accountability of HPCA towards donors
  • Coordinate narrative and financial reporting component to the various donors and stake holders

Requirements:

  • Master’s in Business Management
  • Post graduate qualification in Project Management
  • Eight years’ project management experience
  • Five years’ PEPFAR project compliance and management
  • Five to 10 years’ NGO and hospice experience
  • Technical / Professional Knowledge, skills and expertise
