Delivery Technology Consultant (DTC)

1. Business Environment

With companies spending up to 3% of their revenue on imaging & printing, the convergence of digital printers, fax machines, and copiers, and the emergence of secure print solutions has redefined today’s corporate imaging & printing environment. As a result, IT and facilities managers are seeking ways to cost-effectively integrate these technologies in order to manage costs, increase quality, mitigate risk, drive the environmental agenda and improve agility.

 

2. Job Description

The key function of the role is to provide professional technical advice on both HP and non HP printing technology. The Delivery Technology Consultant (DTC) will be expected to provide installation, customization and integration services for delivering MPS solutions to the Managed Services clients. Responsible for optimizing customer’s environment according to clients business needs. Must be able to understand client’s needs and transform them into HP or HPs/partner capabilities. The DTC will lead the technical implementation efforts in close cooperation with the Project and Transition Managers of the MPS during the delivery and customer acceptance phase. The DTC will align on fleet/solution design requirements with the Technology Consultants of the PPS organization. The DTC has the full responsibility in leading technical implementation/optimization/integration within time and budget. Will drive customer technical acceptance and will typically work in virtual teams e.g. with PM or ADM of the country MPS projects. This position resides within the EMEA/MEMA Managed Services organization.

 

2.1 Objectives

To work within virtual and local teams e.g. with PM/ADM to provide multi-vendor technical consulting, project management, design & installation services to customers. Become the technical advisor for Managed Print Services (MPS) customers. Act as a single point of contact for technical purposes during the roll out and ongoing Customer engagement and ensure projects are implemented within pre-set objectives and budgets. Testing and

 

2.2 Responsibilities/Activities

Pre-Sales Activities:
Technical Delivery (end-to-end) of MPS projects
Validate fleet design & work with subcontractor to agree technical criteria used
Feasibility check on non standard technical Solutions including Multi-Vendor
Ratify solution design (working alongside the TC and Solution Architect/Consultant)
Review/Seek approval from 3rd Party Solutions
Contribute to due diligence activities
Conduct pre-requisite activities for Remote Monitoring solutions (this is with the SA)
Provide input on technical budget requirements
Conduct solutions plan, design and test activities
Workflow Consultancy

 

Pre-Delivery Activities:
Technical printing advice/consultancy
Consultancy on toner management process flow optimization
Conduct pre-rollout site discoveries
Support subcontractor to complete final fleet design according to pricing assumptions (provided by Solution Architect/Consultant) and sign-off technical designs/floor plans
Technical printing evaluation
3rd party technical evaluation/coordination/integration
Technical lead throughout deployment
Conduct pre-deployment site survey (if required)
Advise PM regarding hardware orders for Remote Monitoring solutions (based on information on the web)
Assist with Remote Monitoring reporting capabilities
Manage relationship with 3rd party installation partner
Conduct planning with the Project Manager to ensure careful & accurate scheduling
Onsite for 2nd & final day of deployment to help drive technical acceptance from customer (variable – subject to the project).

 

Core Delivery Activities:
Conduct technical reviews (per contractual obligations)
Provide technical escalation management through to divisions
Assist in resolving silent printer device issues (from a technical perspective)
Contribute to formal technical escalations (from a technical perspective)
Provide consultancy around systems integration issues

 

Consultancy Services:
Deliver pre-defined consultancy services
Provide load balancing consultancy
Advice on on-going optimization
Advice on solution robustness and fail-over mechanisms
Works with and under the direction of the Project/Technical Manager and with customer nominated representatives. Liaises with Solutions Architect as appropriate.
Provides technical support and input on the application of technology to a defined business segment. Provides advice on solution and integration opportunities to defined segments.
Provides technical leadership on specific integration activities that are part of an engagement.
Provides planning and design support for the development of solution architectures that will be implemented in a multiple system environment.
Communicates across client community, and is viewed as adding value. Demonstrates execution of the HP strategy.
Contributes to knowledge tools and communities, and ensures project learning’s are documented and shared. Role models Focuses on single customer. Solves diverse and complex. May lead a project team.

2.3 Measures

Technical implementation/integration on time and pre-agreed budget and within contractual parameters
Deliver to customer technical specifications as described in SOW
Customer Satisfaction via Post implementation survey
Customer loyalty as a reference account
Tracking and contributing to Profit & Loss
Contribution to productivity improvements
Successful escalation management
Revenues generated through pro-active change management & consultancy services
Demonstrated technical expertise in solving customers needs via HP’s Technology Qualifications

2.4 Organizational Linkage

Within the HP IPG EMEA/MEMA Managed Services business
Working in partnership with the Sales, Pre-Sales, Business Development & Partner Managers.
Leader of virtual technical team, especially when 3rd parties are involved
Manages external and internal partners in the delivery of their technical solution
Close relation with IPG (incl. IPG partners), ATS and product division.
Integrates and works effectively with the central Admin Team
Linkages into the HP Services Businesses (IPG, TS, MS & C&I)
Establish relationship to local HP Finance group, IPG Sales & Supplies team
Close working relationships with both EMEA and local country ADM’s/PM’s

 

 

Qualifications
Education and Experience Required:

5+ years of professional experience and a Bachelor of Arts/Science or equivalent degree in computer science or related area of study; without a degree, three additional years of relevant professional experience (8+ years in total).

 

 

Knowledge and Skills Required:

Has sufficient depth and breadth of technical knowledge to be individually responsible for the design and scope of deliverables within a field of expertise. Has led small team in delivery of a specific deliverable.
Has mastered at least one technical discipline with strong knowledge in at least three major technology areas. Possesses advanced level of business, technical, or functional knowledge.
Has ability to perform/drive resolution of problems on combinations and interactions of products. Ability to apply technology and consulting to solve a client business problem.
Able to communicate and present complex issues with assurance and confidence. Demonstrates the use of consulting skills including: questioning, listening, ideas development, permission and rapport, and influencing.
Ability to conduct/lead oral status/technical interchange meetings with clients on small to medium sized engagements.
Owns and produces customer documentation. Ability to translate technical details into concise and easy to understand written form.
Ability to write relevant components of a proposal document (e.g. answer specific RFP questions). Ability to translate Verbal requirements from face to face client meetings into requirements documents, statements of work, and proposals.
Able to discuss (within own area of expertise) requirements with a customer, and to challenge and clarify when appropriate. From the requirements, able to develop a high level design or plan, and then estimate the amount of effort required to deliver. Able to advise the engagement owner about the risks associated with this work package.
Ability to work with a team to provide written responses to technical proposals and /or reports/documentation for delivery.

3rd party product knowledge such as Gold Partners -etc. – preferred
