Job Title: Accountant

Purupose of the job: To administer, process and manage the operational financial aspects for Zonke Engineering.

Responsibilities:

Day to Day Accounting

  • Manage the process and the day-to-day entries, capturing and reconciliations for both Creditors and Debtors.
  • Manage and input accurate Pastel records and ensure bookkeeping activities are completed to balance sheet status.
  • Weekly Reconciliations of all Cashbook accounts
  • Develop and Maintain company assists registers, asset insurances and maintenance monthly. Allocate depreciation and accumulated depreciation.
  • Manage and assess customer credit applications and approvals.
  • Capture monthly creditors, process the required documents and load onto the online banking for timeous payments.
  • Cash flow forecasting and participation
  • Preparation of Budgets and Sales Reports. Review and action changes.
  • Process VAT and Taxes and ensure all submissions and payments are made as required by SARS, using SARS e-filing.
  • Manage Head Office and Branch petty cash.
  • Process monthly journals
  • Liaise with Financial Institutes, Suppliers and Staff as required.
  • Prepare and present:  Income Statement, Balance Sheet, Monthly Accruals and Monthly Management Accounts within 7 days of month end.
  • Prepare Financial Audit packs for BEE and General Audit purposes.

Manage Forward Exchange Contracts:

  • Manage and establish Forward Exchange Contracts
  • Maintain and process pay-outs, documents and roll overs for forward Exchange Contracts
  • Liaise with Forward Exchange Agents

Process and Manage Payroll and Employee Benefits

  • Process Payroll – Salaries and Wages and assist with any employee queries.
  • Process and Manage Company Benefits – Medical and Retirement Benefits, Company Vehicles
  • Collate, check and approve staff expense claims, new employee benefit applications, leave, Sick leave and overtime claims.
  • Process and submit Statutory Deductions and Payments (SARS – PAYE, UIF, SDL,WCA)
  • Prepare and submit Payroll and Company Statistics
  • Conduct Salary Benchmarking

Qualification and experience:

  • Tertiary Qualification Finance/Accounting and at least 5 years Accountant work experience.
  • Computer Proficient and experienced with Pastel and Sage VIP software packages.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently.
