Humana People to People in South Africa seeks to recruit two (2) Research Assistants based in 1x Ehlanzeni District, Mpumalanga and 1x UMkhanyakude District, Kwa-Zulu Natal. HPPSA is looking for candidates that meet the below listed qualities:

Job Title: Research Assistants 
Location: 1x Ehlanzeni District, Mpumalanga and 1x UMkhanyakude District, Kwa-Zulu Natal
Salary: R6 500.00 per month
Duration: 3 MONTHS (15 Jan 20 – 15 April 20.)

Job Purpose:

Coordinate order of required materials and supplies, Participate in training of field workers and Coordinate data collection and data entry.

Research Assistant Duties:

• Coordinate order of required materials and supplies
• Participate in training of field workers
• Provide field supervision support
• Coordinate data collection and data entry
• Package and courier specimens, hard copy forms and other study materials as required
• Maintain good relations with communities in which the study is conducted and with all enrolled study participants
• Strictly observe the provisions of the study protocol and its stipulated ethical considerations in carrying out the above duties

Research assistant Requirements:

• Minimum degree or diploma in public health, environmental health or epidemiology
• Literate in English and Zulu/Shangaan
• Previous experience implementing surveys
• Previous experience coordinating field staff
• Previous experience with studies that require blood samples
• Able to operate a tablet device
• Previous experience with data entry platforms
• Previous experience with community level field work in KwaZulu-Natal and/or Mpumalanga
• Ability to coordinate with country and provincial level structures, and with partners
• Knowledge of malaria
• Ability to work independently
