Job Summary:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACTIVITIES:

OPERATIONAL SCHOOL MANAGEMENT:

Academic progress, Campus management, Student queries, Time-table, Staff management, Quality assurance, Policies, procedures and guideline, Sales and marketing, Venue allocation, Campus maintenance, Academic resources, Writing reports,, Attend all official DBE meetings, Meet with other departments (academic, finance, operations, marketing)when required, Network with other educational sites, Monitor and evaluate and collect data from campus,
Meet with staff (academic, accounts, administration, security, sales and marketing)Meet with line staff, Monitor control of stock

DBE QUALITY ASSURANCE: ACCREDITATION AND REGISTRATION:

Full accreditation and school registration status, QMS policies and systems, Accreditation review committee, Manage the records of accreditation issues relating to all School programmers, Academic progress, Curriculum development

HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT:

Discipline, Appraisals, Conditions of service/contract, Staff development and training, Short-listing and Interview of new staff, Staff orientation

STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT AND DEVELOPMENT:

Planning, Forecasting, Analyzing, Researching, Reviewing, Monitoring and evaluation, Skills development

MARKETING AND PUBLIC RELATIONS:

Sales monitoring and feedback, Market research,

GENERAL DUTIES, ADMINISTRATION AND MEETINGS:

Organize SMT meeting, Attend committee meeting, Organize/attend staff development, Meet with department official submit schedule, Involved in accreditation process (Umalusi), Accreditation monthly overview update, Petty cash claim , Monitor reports and analysis, Monitor Staff leave and absentee records, Sign and check learner’s progress reports, Call parents when learners are absent for long period of time, Organize parent-consult meeting with educators, Inform learners via sms, notice on board – collection of reports – sign documents etc, Hold weekly meetings with Deputy Principal so as to monitor and evaluate programs, learners progress and to resolve problems, Hold monthly staff meetings with academic staff, Co-ordinate, support and monitor all staff, ensure quality work, training and monitoring of staff to develop their capacity. Official appraisal systems in place to monitor teaching and learning, Assist in setting budgets for certain areas and ensure all expenditure is within agreed budge allocations, Supply GM with any information deemed necessary for reports required by the executive committee, Submit infrastructure requirements, Application to DBE for registration of school as Examination Centre, Liaise and network with other Principal and DBE in the FET field, Maintain good staff relations through consultative democratic management and build good team spirit, Work together with other ICESA/EDUCOR staff in the best interest of the business, Perform other professional duties as requested by General Manager, Academic Manager and Finance Manager

Strategic alignment:

Manage the on-campus implementation of the direct delivery strategy, tactical goals and plans.
Collaboratively participate in the development and implementation of the strategy and tactical goals
Stay abreast of local trends, changes, developments and opportunities to explore emergent and future academic education opportunities that may assist my learners. Collaborate with internal functions and external partners to track campus performance against strategy and plans. Fulfill a positive ‘brand ambassador’ role internally on the campus, within the community and with external stakeholders and partners

Curriculum delivery:

Ensure that programs, courses and qualifications are delivered according to the required standards such that efficacy is optimized. Monitor the delivery of the curriculum to ensure a consistently positive student experience ; reinforce positive results and take corrective action where required. Ensure academic integrity.

Governance and administration:

Ensure that on-campus governance, legislative, regulatory and administrative policy and process requirements are understood and adhered to. Ensure that administrative standard operating procedures, policies and processes are in place and that they are efficiently and consistently applied to the required standards. Monitor compliance to all health and safety legislation (e.g. OCHSA), report and correct where required. Report overall performance against goals, financial parameters, targets, performance indicators, campus activity and other value-adding information

Key stakeholder management:

Work collaboratively with the enabling and support functions (operations , finance, technology, HR, corporate affairs) and peers across the Business to extract shared learning, continuous improvement, best quality, synergies and efficiencies . Manage resources to support the implementation and sustainable management of academic intervention programmers, processes and products including technology requirements, people and competence requirements, and infrastructure requirements.
Engage with the relevant accreditation and educational institutions to ensure academic excellence, credibility and compliance. Stay in touch with learners, sponsors, educators, institutions, publishers and competitors to ensure academic relevance and positive ambassadorship

People leadership:

Lead, coach and develop a team of motivated, aligned, capable and accountable people to deliver the vision, strategy, tactical plan, goals and plans of the company. Provide engaging and inspirational leadership on campus so that performance and productivity is optimized

Financial management:

Manage financial indicators within agreed parameters

Sales and marketing:

Execute the marketing strategy as applicable to the campus. Facilitate and drive the achievement of sales targets. Strong people leadership. Sufficient understanding of product and services development. Strong commercial, project management and analytical skills, with demonstrated ability to quickly spot the key drivers of the results and communicate it in a concise and impactful way . Strategic thinking ability; i.e. able to lift out of the day to day data, combine it with external trends, market data, to see the bigger picture and help shape the future of learners.
Collaborative approach to working with management teams, peers, colleagues and teams across the business. Able to create and manage processes that allow for an efficient and effective way of working. Exceptional communication and influencing skills.

Requirements:

Degree in Education or Higher
Experience in FET AND GET, Very good communication skills in English (writer and verbal), and Above average IT skills, Excellent administration skills, Prepared to travel, Involved with school/learner functions: awards ceremony, parents meeting etc, Creation and monitoring school time-table and general planning, Monitoring, evaluation of staff performance and appraisals, Chair staff meetings and provide feedback to Manager, Attendance and representation at Principals meeting and Liaison between school and Department of Basic Education

KNOWLEDGE OF:

Education principles, Teaching and learning strategies, Curriculum, Assessment, moderation and certification, DBE policies and procedures, CAPS policy, Moderation and school improvement planning, Knowledge of NSC and ASC policy (examination and syllabus), Knowledge of completion of necessary departmental documents (registering learners with department, change of subject, examination and assessments), Knowledge of examinations procedure (Chief invigilator)
