Job Title: Social Auxiliary Worker
Job Location: Western Cape
Report to: Early Childhood Development Programme Manager

This is a short-term seven months’ contract.

The purpose of the Social Auxiliary Worker is to ensure the overall social welfare needs of each child in the surrounding Early Childhood Development Centers are met. This includes monitoring the state of the Early Childhood Development Centers, their compliance status and responding accordingly, making timely, appropriate referrals where necessary.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor the compliance of Early Childhood Development Centers
  • Assist Early Childhood Development Centers towards meeting the required standards
  • Facilitate any referrals where intervention is needed and do follow-ups
  • Write monthly reports to the relevant coordinator
  • Perform administrative support functions as requested
  • Build relationships with the child protection social workers and report any Educare centers posing a risk to the wellbeing of children

Requirements:

  • Fluency in English and isiXhosa
  • Qualifications in Social Auxiliary Work from an accredited institution
  • Matriculation
  • Registered with SACSSP
  • Minimum of two years’ Social Auxiliary work experience, preference given to those who have worked within the Early childhood development field
  • Demonstrated ability to use Microsoft Windows (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Ability to work as part of a dynamic team
  • Verbal and written communication
  • Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and commitment
