Ikamva Labantu is a non-profit organisation that works throughout Cape Town’s township communities towards a more just society where human rights can be fully actualised.

We have a holistic and community-led approach to the sustainable development of impoverished communities, with a focus on early childhood development, the wellbeing of older persons and afterschool initiatives for children. We have been working with at-risk communities for over 55 years through the provision of resources, training and support.

 

 

Job Title: Programme Manager
Location:  Afternoon Angels, Guugulethu
Employment Type: Permanent
Commencement date: 01 February 2021
Remuneration: A market related remuneration package

The purpose of this role is to manage, support and guide the team. Provide input into strategy development and representation of the Afternoon Angels Programme on various platforms.  The successful candidate will report to the Head of Programmes.

Key Performance Areas:

  • Strategic Development;
  • Centre Management;
  • Programme Management;
  • Financial Management;
  • Staff Management;
  • Relationship Management & reporting.

Minimum Requirements & Competencies:

  • Relevant degree or diploma in Project Management, Social Sciences or Community Development Management;
  • Proven relevant management experience is essential; NGO experience would be advantageous;
  • Proven relevant experience in:
    • Monitoring & Evaluation
    • Budgets
    • Human Resource Management
  • Minimum of five years proven experience in Community Development;
  • Driver’s Licence and own vehicle as well as the willingness to work within township areas;
  • Good verbal and written English skills with isiXhosa skills being advantageous;
  • Ability to work flexible hours when required;
  • Proven relevant computer literacy in MS Office;
  • Demonstrated experience in:
    • working independently and meeting deadlines;
    • follow up and through of a variety of pieces of work;
    • proven problem solving ability;
    • proven planning and organising ability;
    • good interpersonal skills;
    • the ability to impart knowledge;
    • confidentiality, judgement, commitment and driving for results.
