Investment Banking Analyst – Johannesburg based

There is currently an opportunity within the Johannesburg Investment Banking division of JPMorgan for an analyst to join the team.

Investment Banking is the first point of contact for most clients, who include multinational corporations, governments, financial institutions, private equity firms and institutional investors. Often, members of the deal team interact on a daily basis with the client’s CEO and CFO, providing advice on the entire spectrum of JPMorgan products. Our Investment Banking groups are organized to provide either product, sector or country expertise to our clients. These teams collaborate to provide a variety of products to clients in each sector. The team members become experts in their product, sector or country.

As an Investment Banking Analyst within mergers and acquisitions you will work as part of a team on projects involving a spectrum of disciplines including structuring, valuations, regulatory advice, negotiations and financing solutions such as loans and high yield bonds. The client base is targeted at blue chip global and South African companies.

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

• building financial models including discounted free cash flows, dividend discount models, leverage buyout models, merger model analysis and peer comparable analysis
• interpreting financial models and data,
• day to day project management of deals,
• working on innovative solutions to clients regarding deal structuring,
• assessing the impact of relevant regulatory matters on deals,
• client interaction and presentations,
• producing industry specific presentations and research,
• performing credit analysis,
• preparing offering and marketing materials for equity and debt capital market deals,
• preparing and participating in deal pitches
• executing end-to-end client transactions

Qualifications/Experience required

• Minimum of Bachelors degree required with strong( mathematics & finance )

You should also be adaptable, able to manage multiple projects independently and be ready to assume a high level of responsibility as a member of a team. A well-rounded academic background with coursework in finance or economics is recommended with top performing results.
