Ipas is currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of Finance Advisor I located in Johannesburg, South Africa. The Finance Advisor I is responsible for assisting the Finance Manager with the overall finance operations by assuming responsibility for specific finance functions. The Finance Advisor I is responsible for contributing to budget drafts, reviewing proposals and reporting functions.  This position may also provide human resources support in areas of employee on boarding and benefits enrolment and management. The Finance Advisor I will be in constant interaction with Ipas North Carolina Global finance and human resources units.

 

Job Title: Finance Advisor I

Key Responsibilities

• Reviews, processes, coordinates and reconciles payments to vendors and other outside entities
• Prepares monthly bank reconciliation, reviews and approves transactions on Ipas accounting software, and approves petty cash expenses
• Participates in the preparation and construction of donor reports, as directed
• Process requests for payments to consultants ensuring that agreements, invoices and other documents are properly completed and submitted
• Maintains a log of withholding tax deducted from consultants while ensuring the deductions are remitted and entered
• Process all travel advance, program activities pay-out and medical insurance advance requests as well as process travel retirements
• Contributes to preparing and submitting Ipas SA monthly financial reports, including monthly average exchange rate
• Prepares monthly payroll and remits payroll deductions to statutory bodies in accordance with the South African Law
• Completes all new employee onboarding paperwork, and assist with the orientation of new staff
• Ensures enrollment into the benefits plans and communicates any changes in staffing to NC Global
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Description

Internal & External Customers / Suppliers as well as Third Parties  

• Collaborates with Ipas SA and NC in reference to the monthly financial report and assists in the development of the report
• Works with associates, managers, directors and technical units in reference to reports, planning, policies and procedures
• Reports to the Finance Manager in reference to workflow, deadlines, reports, and policies
• Collaborates with external entities including financial institutions and governmental agencies to ensure records are accurate and payments are processed in a timely manner

Minimal Requirements for Position 

• Bachelor’s degree in related field
• 3-5 years’ experience working with GL accounting
• Must be proficient in the understanding of payment processing procedures and potential delays that can impact processing times

Preferred Requirements 

• Knowledge of fund accounting, local and national tax laws and accounting standards
• Non-profit accounting experience
