Job Title: LON QI Officer
Location: South Africa
1. Overall Responsibility:
Overall coordinating specific review processes as part of the hospital, CHC, clinic or another type of healthcare services and National Department of Health continuous improvement process, focusing on TB, DR-TB and TB-HIV in district/sub-district. Ensuring that healthcare professionals and supporting personnel within the district/sub-district’s health facilities comply with care standards and quality key performance indicators.
2. Duties:
- Responsible to work with district/sub-district public health facilities/hospitals and health management to develop, maintain, and implement plans to achieve quality improvement goals and manage personnel.
- Ensure that all conform to standards, regulations, policies and improve quality of services and deliver a patient ethically centred service.
- Investigating irregularly treatment and management including failure to adhere to recommended monitoring and evaluation, safety or institutional standards
- Oversees and monitor the quality improvement program and develops performance improvement targets
- Human resource planning and management by performance management and ensure corrective management
- Liaise with relevant stakeholders including facility committees, community participation and quality improvement committee to maintain quality improvement
- Ensure the provision of high-quality services measured by outcomes of various quality assurance activities
- Collect, verify and timeous submission of accurate statistics monthly and quarterly and narrative reports according to request and project prescription
- Implementation and monitoring of the aDSM plan in the District
3. Requirement:
- Health related Degree
- Experience or demonstrated experience as a professional nurse on TB/DR-TB and TB-HIV/AIDS programmes in quality improvement project/s
- Strong verbal, written and presentation skills in English and at least one other South African language
- A keen interest in pharmacovigilance
- Valid unendorsed code 8 driver’s licence
4. Experience:
- Knowledge of South Africa’s current evident-based TB/DR-TB and TB-HIV investigations and treatment
- Knowledge and sensitivity to working with multi-cultural groups
- Experience in TB/DR-TB and TB-HIV program monitoring and evaluation and information management systems
- Developing and making professional presentations and graphs
5. Skills:
- Knowledge of continuous improvement principles and the ability to understand and use analytical reasoning to interpret and act on patient care data and health information
- Excellent time management, team-building, and facilitation skills
- Understanding of South Africa’s public health and development trends and approaches
- Self-motivated professional nurse with an ability to handling pressure situations
- Strong computer literacy, with proficiency and ability to work with a spreadsheet:
- Microsoft Office Excel, Word and Power Point and Outlook/e-mail along with strong internet-based skills including methods of online communication (Skype, Social Media Platform, etc.)
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multi-cultural group
- Be self-motivated and present a positive leadership attitude
6. Communication
- Internal:
- All Project related personnel, Manager, NIMDR-TB Professional Nurses, Data Capturers and Community Health Workers
- External:
- Provincial Department of Health, District/Sub-District Department of Health, Health Facility personnel and PHC Personnel
7. Working conditions:
- Willingness and availability to travel extensively within province
- On occasion, to work long and/or irregular /or after hours/ holidays and weekends if the needed to reach objective and deadlines
