iThemba School is registered nonprofit organisation ECD independent school offering Grade R. iThemba means ‘hope’. The iThemba vision is for children from under-resourced communities in the Southern Peninsula of Cape Town to be provided with the best possible intellectual, physical, emotional and spiritual foundation for further education giving them hope for their future.

Job Title: Operation Administrator
Job Location: Fish Hoek, Cape Town
Salary: Market related salary with a view to a permanent role

This is a part time position, with normal working hours of five mornings a week.

Responsibilities:

Front of house

  • Greet and assist parents, visitors and volunteers
  • Arrange and oversee volunteers and contractors for building, playground and IT maintenance
  • Source and sort teaching materials and office supplies
  • Assist with drawing up of recruitment and performance development documents
  • Assist the Principal and support the staff as needed

iThemba Government Registrations

  • Submit the Education Department application for subsidy bi-annually, using previous submissions as a base and with input from the Principal and Finance Administrator
  • Collate input for quarterly reports to the Centre for Early Childhood Development on child attendance
  • Coordinate completion of documentation required by Department of Social Development or Fire Dept. re-registration (this is in progress)
  • Fill in the annual nonprofit Organisation form (referring to previous submissions)

iThemba partnerships (sponsor) development

  • Write weekly thank you letters to donors and sponsors
  • Write newsletters in Mail Chimp and draft an Annual Report in Word (photos provided)
  • Facebook and website updates (training provided)
  • Assist with gaining My School Card and ‘learner partner’ supporters
  • Assist with maintaining the sponsor and donor database

Primary School development administration

  • Assist with online research and/or administration around re-zoning a property, opening a Trust, site development

Startup admin

  • Bank accounts, telephone, NPO, City Health and fire depts, pre-school name change, independent school registration

Requirements:

  • English
  • Computer and social media skills will be needed to succeed in the role
  • Grade 12 and a tertiary qualification
  • Work experience is a must
  • A conscientious and relational person
  • Be a Christian in good standing with their church, who can develop in their role as the school grows
