Jacaranda 94 2 FM: Managing Editor

Jacaranda 94.2 FM is searching for a broadcast journalist with a minimum of 10 years experience, who has the vision and expertise to manage and effectively direct the News and Sport department, ensuring that the news is competitive, target audience orientated and income generating as a multi media news source.
The position reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer.

Key Performance Areas Include: Managing the quality and content of Jacaranda 94.2’s news and sport both on air and online; managing news networks and contacts; optimal management of the News and Sport department staff; managing news PR; manage the newsroom and the daily operational requirements of the team and the effective compilation, management and control of the News and Sport Department budget.

So, what do you need? :
Minimum 10 years experience in Broadcast journalism, of which at least 5 years needs to be in a senior position; be fluent in both English and Afrikaans; a good understanding of radio and multimedia; an understanding of ICASA and BCCSA standards and a good understanding of the role of news and sport in a commercial radio station environment.
