John Thompson, a division of ACTOM (Pty) Ltd, is South Africa ‘s largest manufacturer of industrial and utility boilers and services in both local and export markets. We are involved with world-competitive design, manufacturing , construction and maintenance of industrial boilers and combustion equipment.

John Thompson has positions for Trainee Technicians to give them P1 & P2 experiential exposure in Bellville, Johannesburg and Durban.


Receiving exposure over a period of 6 -12 months, you will be exposed to the most relevant aspects of our proposal, design, manufacturing and construction business operations.

These are temporary and for experiential exposure only. Upon successful completion of this period and attainment of a diploma in Mechanical Engineering, you will be considered for permanent employment as Technicians, should vacancies exist.



Completed S4 in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering (not yet qualified with ND)

Experience in a similar environment could be advantageous


Please note:

Applications must consist of a covering letter motivating the application, current CV no longer than 3 A4 pages in length and detailed certified copies academic achievements at a Secondary School as well as University of Technology Applicants will be required to submit themselves to practical testing and psychometric evaluation as part of the process.

The contracts shall commence during July 2014 and run for 13 months.
