John Thompson, a division of ACTOM (Pty) Ltd, is South Africa’s largest manufacturer of industrial and utility boilers and services in both local and export markets.

We are involved with world-competitive design, manufacturing, construction and maintenance of industrial boilers and combustion equipment.

Trainee Technician (S4 – Mechanical/Industrial Engineering)

Bellville, Johannesburg and Durban (Ref #: JT/TT)

This is your opportunity to gain experiential exposure over a period of 6 to 12 months, being exposed to the most relevant aspects of our manufacturing business.

Upon successful completion of this period and attainment of a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, you may be considered for permanent employment, should there be an opportunity.

An S4 in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering is a prerequisite (not qualified with a National Diploma).

Your application must be accompanied by detailed certificated copies of academic achievements at Secondary School as well as at Universities/Technikons of Technology.

Apprentices (Boiler Making and Welding)

Bellville (Ref #: JT/A)

You have a minimum qualification of Standard 9/Grade 11 Technical with Metal Work and Welders Theory OR Academic with Maths and Science OR N2 Trade Theory Subjects (Platers Theory or Welders Theory) OR NCV (National Certificate Vocational) Level 4 Fabrication .

You must be medically fit for relevant trades and have an interest in engineering.

Candidates will undergo a Psychometric Test and once successful, employed on a 3 month evaluation period as an unskilled worker.

Upon successful completion of the evaluation period, you will be offered an apprenticeship, if you have proven your potential to successfully complete an apprenticeship.
