Job Title: Area Supervisor
Job Location: Johannesburg
The purpose of the position is to supervise the implementation of the JAMSA nutritional feeding programme, including the effectiveness of Monitors day to day activities and other programming in a designated area.
Responsibilities:
Nutrition and Makeover Programming – 80%
- Supervise the nutrition programme in accordance with the Nutrition Standard Operating Procedures, approved objectives, expansion plans, plans of action and budget
- Ensure all relevant procedures of the Monitoring and Evaluation Tool Kit are completed correctly and on time for each partner and ECDs
- Ensure the completion of consent forms at ECD centres within three months of starting feeding
- Ensure the completion of a Monthly Monitoring Summary for the current month and a delivery planner for each ECD/Partner for the next delivery period by the 10th of each month.
- Assist with and ensure food deliveries are carried out as per approved delivery planners on ODK
- Assist the DM&E Coordinator in the training and re-training of Monitors on the JAMSA Monitoring and Evaluation framework, systems and equipment
- Assist the DM&E Coordinator with evaluations of programme interventions
- Provide assistance in building the capacity of ECD centres and their staff
- Provide assistance with Makeovers and Donor Relations as designated by the Stakeholder Coordinator / Programmes Manager
- Network with other stakeholders including NGOs, FBOs, CBOs and local government officials and community leaders so as to ensure ECD quality and innovation
- Participate in the development of JAMSA strategies, planning and budgeting
Financial Management – 10%
- Ensure reconciliation of cash advances, including Bidvest at each month end
- Assist the Community Development Officer in the sourcing and interviewing potential Monitors Conduct six monthly performance appraisals of each Monitor
- Conduct monthly probation appraisals for new staff reports
Key Performance Indicators
- Compile and submit monthly report to the Community Development Officer by the 5th of the following month
- Compile and submit a delivery planner for the following month to the Community Development Officer by the 10th of the following month
- 100% of Partner/ECDs submit Stock Registers monthly by the 5th of the following month
- Monitoring and Evaluation Tools are completed as per requirements
- Training of Monitors and quality of data checks are carried out in accordance with the Nutrition Programme Standard Operating procedures
Requirements:
- Two-year Diploma preferably in a development related field
- Minimum of three years’ experience in community development or related training
- Working knowledge of Word suite and use of mobile applications
- Supervision, organisational and conflict resolution skills
- Decision making and problem-solving skills
- Time management and work scheduling skills
- Communication skills -both oral and written in English and an African language
- Interpersonal relations and ability to work well with others
- Knowledge of South African society
- Valid drivers’ license or PDP
- Honesty, integrity, professionalism
- Willing to work overtime
- Able to uphold Christian values and the reputation of the organization as a Christian organisation
- Willing to travel
