Job Title: Community Development Officer
Job Location: Western Cape.
The purpose of the position is to provide overall coordination of JAMSA nutrition programme and provide support to makeovers at ECD centres. To develop and implement a marketing plan for the Western Cape region with corporate and other donors.
Responsibilities:
Coordination and Supervision – 65%
- Coordinate the development of a provincial operations strategic plan and budget based on JAM SA strategy, goals and objectives with participation of all staff and partners
- Coordinate all programmes and projects through regular staff meetings and supervision ensuring effective and efficient delivery
- Coordinate programme expansion plan processes including field research
- Coordinate the establishment of effective and efficient data bases and the analysis, monitoring, evaluation and reporting on data as designated
- Coordinate designated requirements for annual audits and periodic partner audits as required.
- Liaise with JAMSA stakeholders including existing and new partners, NGO/CBO and government departments
- Coordinate effective relationships with Donor Relations, Finance and Administration
- Research best practices and identify potential innovations to enhance improvements in programming
- Compile weekly and collate a monthly report submission on the Nutrition programme to the Programme Manager by the 10th of the following month
Marketing – 15%
- Coordinate marketing within the Western Cape province inclusive of sourcing and liaison with potential and existing donors
Financial Management – 10%
- Ensure reconciliation of cash advances, including Bidvest at each month end
Human Resource Management – 10%
- Coordinate and report on annual Job Description and KPI revisions of reports
- Coordinate six monthly performance appraisals of reports and ensure submission to the Programme Manager
- Coordinate monthly performance appraisals of probation staff and ensure submission to the Programme Manager
- Coordinate staff development plans and training
Other duties
- Submit of inputs to the annual national operations strategic plans and budget by set date
- Meet approved beneficiary targets
- Maintain data bases as agreed and provision of feedback on outcomes
- Approve a six weeks’ delivery planner for ECD centres and partners
- Completion of monthly operations report inclusive of marketing by 10th of following month
- Ensure Human Resource policies applied inclusive of staff appraisals
- Cash advances settled by end of each month
Requirements:
- Two years Diploma preferably in a development related field
- Minimum of five years’ experience in community development or related training
- Supervision and conflict resolution skills
- Decision making and problem solving skills
- Coordination and organisational skills
- Time management and work scheduling skills
- Communication skills, both oral and written
- Interpersonal relations and ability to work well with others
- Sound knowledge of SA society
- Valid SA drivers licence and one year driving experience
- Fluent in English and preferably at least one other SA language
- Honesty, integrity, professionalism and willingness to work overtime
- Must follow the Christian faith and be committed to upholding Christian values and the reputation of the organisation as a Christian organisation
