GOVERNMENT PENSIONS ADMINISTRATION AGENCY (GPAA) RECRUITMENT

JUNIOR PAYROLL ADMINISTRATOR REF NO: JPA-F/2014/11-1C
SALARY : R 148 584 per annum plus 37% in lieu of benefits 24 months contract
CENTRE : Pretoria

 

REQUIREMENTS : An applicable 3 year tertiary qualification with 18 months experience in payroll or finance
environment or Grade 12 with Accounting or Mathematics as a passed subject with 3 years
experience in payroll or finance environment Payroll Diploma would be an advantage
Computer literacy that would include a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office products,
especially Microsoft Excel Knowledge and experience in Persal will be an added advantage.
Knowledge and experience in ACCPAC will be an added advantage Knowledge of relevant
legislation – such as PAYE, PFMA and Treasury Regulations COMPETENCIES: Able to deal
with confidential matters Must be able to work independently as well as in a team Good
interpersonal relations Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) Excellent
reconciliation and financial calculation capabilities Must be able to take responsibility Effective
organizational skills Attention to detail Deadline drivenSelf motivated

 

DUTIES : The successful candidate will be responsible for the following: Salary payments processes
and transactions to internal departments – Process correct payments in accordance with the
payroll calendar deadlines (calculate and capture payments). Provide effective and efficient
clerical duties services and implementation of deductions – Correct payments as per
Garnishee Orders and external documents received. Controls-All documents checked
according to DPSA and Departmental guidelines and paid on Persal, all claims and advices
Reporting- Distributing of statements, Payroll reports and pay slips to Internal and external
beneficiaries. Debt collection from internal, Intergovernmental claims and out of service
debtors-Recording of debt on the financial system (ACC PAC) Interest calculations and
payment allocations Reporting monthly on recovery progress Motivate writing off of debt
according to Departmental Policy, PFMA 1 of 1999 and Treasury Regulations

contract position.
