To design, implement, operate and continuously improve the processes that underpin Letshego’s consumer /MSE lending offering (Programmatic lending), namely underwriting, and loan administration for the Group. Position responsible for leading activities including credit review, credit approvals and monitoring the portfolio to identify credit migration in coordination with the Risk Management team. Responsible for end-to-end responsibility to manage underwriting, portfolio quality dynamics, loss forecasting, identifying and deploying initiation policy changes including line assignment, and stakeholder management

 

 

 

 

 

Job Title: Group Credit Initiation Manager

Job Summary:
Manages budget and controls costs to achieve targeted levels of processing volumes.
Develop a framework for portfolio risk assessment including evaluation of credit assessment across all lending products /segments and sectors
Provides feedback to business units and recommend courses of action.
Can exercise independence of judgement and autonomy.
Acts as SME to senior stakeholders and /or other team members
Maintains activities in accordance with Service Level Agreements (SLAs) with internal departments/ units to achieve improvements in turn-around time, with respect to corporate credit processing.
Builds and maintains strong and effective relationship with all other related departments and units to achieve the Group’s goals/objectives.
Provides timely and accurate information to the external and internal auditors and the Compliance function as and when required.
Sets procedures for the timely review of all corporate loan proposals, ensuring staff follow set procedures for receiving, processing, checking and filing loans documentation.
Critically reviews all credit documents, ensuring all necessary procedures/ calculations have been taken with regards loan draw-downs, rollovers, repayments, interest rate fixing, fees collection and payment scheduling, red flag any deficiencies for correction or rejection of corporate credit proposal.
Ensures regular updating in the system of various credit-related data to aid in decision-making.
Supervises and ensures that all data input in the core system is updated and checked viz. daily reports.
Participate in the loan syndication process as per the delegated authority.
Maintains data accurately in Letshego’s systems relating to loan facilities, transactions and corporate customer data.

Requirements:
Education•Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Finance, Accounting, Economics or equivalent
•Master’s in Business Administration would be an added advantage
Experience •At least 10 years’ experience in in the credit related role, preferably consumer credit underwriting and loan operations with a minimum of 5 years’ experience at a management level preferably with a credit union or other financial institution
•Background in Retail & MSE including Housing underwriting
Certifications
Knowledge•Awareness of current industry trends, technologies and issues that potentially affect organisation’s business
•Develop a robust credit risk and underwriting framework
•Manage underwriting personnel who execute credit reviews and set credit limits
•Reviews financial statements, projection models and all other relevant financial and non- financial data to develop a concise focused analytical foundation for a credit decision.
•Accountable for underwriting all business opportunities and launching of new products for the Group
•Understanding and interpretation of financial statements
•Actively assess new credit opportunities, leading credit analysis and approvals
•Ability to understand the economics of the business and appropriately weigh risk/reward trade-offs.
•Comprehensive knowledge of financial products, processes and market practices
•Ensures underwriting and structuring decisions reflect commitment to strong asset quality
•Good knowledge of key risk classes including credit, market and operational risk
•Good knowledge and understanding of the regulatory framework, industry trends and best practice, able to apply knowledge to direct priorities within the business

•Ability to collect and synthesize data and information to develop and provide analytical analysis
•Strong interpersonal skills, including written and oral communication skills
•Ability to analyse and calculate figures and amounts on complex loan transactions.

•Sound financial acumen with credit and financial analysis skills
