LifeLine Ekurhuleni is a leading provider of personal skills development and the promotion of emotional wellness for the healing and transformation of individuals and communities in Ekurhuleni. As a community-based, civil society organisation, whose core counselling and victim empowerment services are provided by volunteers, LifeLine involves the community at large and its resources to achieve its objectives.

Job Title: Project Coordinator/Social Worker
Job Location: Benoni
Start date: As soon as possible
Duration: Fixed-term contract – To end on 14th March 2019.

The purpose of the position is to ensure that both mentally-challenged adults, child victims and witnesses of sexual abuse and other violent crimes receive optimal Intermediary and follow-up services from the LifeLine team, as well as knowledge of child protection, gender-based violence and HIV & AIDS-related issues and their impact amongst individuals, families and communities.

Responsibilities:

• Coordinate and monitor the LifeLine services and team
• Provide psychosocial support
• Plan, organise, mobilise for and evaluate community development activities
• Networking
• Advocacy and linking with diverse stakeholders
• General administration

Requirements:

• Four-Year Bachelors or Honours Degree in Social Work
• Registration with the SACSSP
• Broad experience within the NGO sector
• Experience in the management of both staff and volunteer teams
• Knowledge of VEP and child protection practices and the relevant legislation
• Valid Code 8 (EB) driver’s license
• Computer Literacy: spreadsheets, reporting, email and internet
• Written and oral communication
• Presentation and interpersonal skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects
• Priorities and deadlines over long periods
• Organisational skills
• Attention to detail
• Flexible approach to working hours and duties
