To manage the safety and risk associated with projects by proactively planning, directing and implementing ADC’s safety and quality programmes.
Accountable for the Health, Safety, Environment and ISO’s compliance and the certification and accreditations of the programmes.
Responsible for the Governance, Risk, Financial Audits that feeds directly into the executives, Group Audit and Risk and the Board.
This position is responsible for various methods and best practices, improving the overall project portfolio management (PPM) maturity across the organization, and tracking and reporting the conformance to plans and expectations of all initiatives.
Being independently positioned offering an overall ADC Group support with relations into all across the organization which includes facilitating objectives or direction for both Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE), as well as Quality functional implementations, specifically aligning with ISO compliance in the organization.

Job Summary:
STRATEGY AND PLANNING:
Continuously evaluate short, medium, and long-term objectives of HSE, Quality, and Governance/Risk functional units
Design and implement appropriate resource plans for the HSE, Quality, and Governance/Risk activities. Analyse, introduce, and promote opportunities to support implementation of projects. Plans implementation of strategic and robust programmes and/or business cases
Maintains an awareness of relevant market practices, Industry forces which may affect the efficient implementation of strategic directives
Engages senior leadership and business partners to define the strategy, missions, goals and operating model
Leads the identification and development of HSE, Quality, and Governance/Risk roles, team configuration and recruitment
Leads the identification, implementation, and facilitation of portfolio management processes and governance, including the intake mechanism, to ensure adherence to the enterprise strategy and drive business value
Develops and manages the enterprise roadmap aligned to enterprise strategic initiatives
Defines, manages and directs the needed end-to-end work effort, which includes leveraging best practices and techniques in identifying, quantifying and tracking the realization of expected benefits defined in business cases
Leads the identification, development, implementation, and monitoring of project and portfolio KPIs, metrics, leading indicators, project trending, executive presentations, and portfolio status reports
Fosters collaboration, strategic alignment and integrated planning and execution across multiple functions in a matrixed organization.
Regularly reviews and evaluates opportunities to improve the project management best practices to achieve higher maturity

CORPORATE GOVERNANCE, COMPLIANCE, HSE:
Ensures implementation and compliance of the requisite Company policies and processes, legal requirements and Governance Best Practice at all times. Ensures mechanisms are in place to identify and ensure compliance with relevant codes, legislation, etc. in various countries where programmes/projects are executed
Ensures compliance with local Health, Safety, and Environmental statutory requirements and compliance in project execution
To review and audit an QHSE auditing plan that ensures all Data Centre facilities within Africa are frequently assessed. Review and audit Data Centres within Africa to ensure compliance of operations are strictly in accordance with policy and law, and that an effective management system is implemented in each country in order to achieve international accreditations such as ISO 9001, 14001 & 45001, ISO 27001, ISO 20000, ISO 22301. Review and audit compliances for accreditations such as the PCI DSS, ISAE3402 and the Supplier Security and Privacy Assurance (“SSPA”) Programs.
Implement and maintain the compliance framework, which encompasses the overall management controls (policy, manual, relevant templates etc.) and related evidence, in order to identify, assess, monitor and report all material compliance risks.

POLICIES AND GUIDELINES:
Analyses and projects and business organisational structure for resources required for alignment to the Organization’s goals
Direct the conceptualisation, design, development and establishment of policies and processes, standards, and guidelines for the effective implementation of ISO 9001 Quality management

RISK MANAGEMENT:
Implement and design a risk management strategy that is aligned with group risk management. Takes the necessary steps to mitigate risks, including use of control systems and risk transfer mechanisms. Communicates residual risk to Executives in line with organizational directivesEnterprise Risk Register. Complies with Corporate Governance principles
Identifies current and potential implementation risks which the business faces and compiles to Risk Register.

RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT:
Participates in key decisions as member of the executive team, more so as they relate to strategic initiatives and operational models
Manages relationships with Executives across operations providing technical support and direction, consultation as required
Selects, engages, builds and maintains relationships with Suppliers and Contractors. Interacts with and maintains relationships with Customers before, during, and after project execution. Interacts with and brings functional activities into line with board plans, initiatives and recommendations.

PROGRAMMES & PROJECTS:
Facilitates among the stakeholders and organizational leadership a consensus around the mission and vision of the functional organization to foster a project-management-oriented culture and mindset
Leads the identification and implementation (or improvement) of project management processes, methods, tools, guidelines, standards, and a maturity roadmap to establish a stable framework that supports all project teams and stakeholders. Evaluate the management of a project and identify the areas (Business Case including Financial Model, ROI, Scope, Staff, Resource, Schedule, Risk and Finance)

Financial Management – Achievement of targeted CAPEX and OPEX savings. Analyse individual Country Accreditation and Certification CAPEX and OPEX budgets and align (where possible) to achieve savings by utilising suppliers and efficiencies from economies of scale etc. Responsible preparation of annual divisional CAPEX and OPEX budgets. Monitor and improve the purchasing and contract order process for operational expenditure. Monitors the divisional budget monthly and ensures that the expenditure is in line with budget parameters.Ensure compliance resources are budgeted as per the growth of Africa Data Centres expansions

Requirements:
Technical/Engineering degree or equivalent mandatory
Honours / Master’s degree in Business Administration or equivalent advantageous
10 years’ cross-functional management experience in a similar or related environment of which minimum 5 years should be in a senior position
5-8 years’ proven experience in directing the successful implementation of large-scale projects
12 years’ experience in the Telecoms / IT industry
Relevant project and program management experience, including 10+ years experience directing staff
