Job Title: Junior Scholar Coordinator
Job Location:  Bellville, Cape Town
Salary: Market-related salary

Junior Scholar Coordinator be responsible for caring for our junior scholars on the programme (Grade 8 to Grade 10).

Responsibilities:

  • Manage all financial and administrative matters about the scholars:
    • All financial and administrative tasks connected to coordinating and taking care of a group of scholars
    • Accurately track the scholars’ budget
    • Ensure all educational and academic necessities are provided to the scholar in a timeous manner
    • Accurately capturing of any data about the scholars
    • Organise, book and plan any practical or travel logistics for the scholars
    • Assist the team in planning, organising and attending functions or events for our scholars
    • Accurately track scholars’ academic, social and personal development
    • Quarterly writing of professional reports to provide feedback on scholar’s performance
  • Coordinate and implement support services where necessary i.e
    • Liaise with the scholars, schools, parents or any third party involved
    • Regular school visits
    • Provide access to resources on an academic, social or emotional level
    • Offer emotional support and guidance to scholars on a daily basis
    • Identify any problems and arranging the necessary interventions either through the multi-disciplinary team or external service providers such as for academic tutoring
  • Grow meaningful relationships with all stakeholders
  • Assist with any other task that might be part of your professional training (i.e. psychometric assessments, counselling etc.)

Requirements:

  • Qualified as either one of the following:
    •  A psychologist or registered counsellor
    • Teacher
    • Social worker
    • Community/youth development worker
    • Registration with the appropriate professional board (HPCSA)
  • Initiative to perceive
  • Patience to build positive relationships with the scholars
  • Strong work ethic
  • Ability to deliver high-quality care and support to our scholars
  • Experience in working with young people (age 12 to 22 years’) and their families
  • Strong interpersonal, administrative, organisational and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team and to multi-task
  • Ability to travel on a regular basis
  • Valid driver’s licence and a reliable car
  • South African citizen
  • Clear criminal record
  • A third language would be highly advantageous
